Very nice place. Food was great, people there are very friendly, only if the customer service was a bit better. Comming from the city our expectations with customer service was a bit higher than what we experienced, but still wasn't as bad as it could get.

Most disposable venue we've ever been to in years!
Staff were rude with zero customer service.
Owner was horrifically dismissive of staff and patrons.
Food took a very long time to come out and everything overall was an absolute effort to staff and owner.
Patrons were beautiful in waiting for service but was discussed upon patrons all would NEVER eat nor drink here again.
Very disappointed!
Not people friendly at ALL!
No wonder its soooo quiet here!

We went to Blackhill for dinner but ended up leaving after starters. Saturday night in the beer garden was a hot one so sitting outside a viable option. Sadly the smoking area nearby marred our enjoyment of the live music. Popcorn chicken tasteless and dry. Wait staff were pleasant.

Had a good meal here. Was Thursday Steak night, a couple had the steak, no complaints decent steak for the price. The rest of us enjoyed various meals from Parma, pizza & squid. I had the Lamb Souvlaki Pizza and it was delicious, would get it again. Overall the service was efficient and pleasant.

We utilised the beer garden for a group membership function on a weeknight. The atmosphere was fantastic, staff were attentive and the food was delicious. Great pub! We’ll definitely be back.
Side note, the playlist was on point too 👌

Had an 18th birthday party in the bear garden. It was a great atmosphere, we were able to decorate it as we liked. The staff were lovely with great service and they were more than helpful and accomadating throughout the night. The party moved to the bar area where there was a small band playing, they sang happy birthday to the birthday girl with everyone in the bar joining in and got her on-stage to join them in a song (thanks Phil). I would recommend the black hill hotel to anyone looking for a venue as it was a great evening for everyone that attended.

Loving Black Hill Hotel. I love checking out all the local pubs in Ballarat. This one doesn’t disappoint! Not many beers on tap but they have most other options in cans or bottles.

We came for dinner to take advantage of their Thursday night Steak special.

300g porterhouse for $28!

Both Steaks were cooked perfectly and loved the choices of sauces & gravies (plain, mushroom, pepper, diane or creamy garlic) are included in the price. We were also impressed the gravy was served separately in a gravy boat and not poured all over the steak.

My friend was so happy the mushroom gravy was chockas with mushrooms, no skimping!

There is off street car parking too.

Just good tucker at a good price. There was a cosy fire roaring on the cold winter night we were there. Staff were so helpful & friendly.

We will definitely be back!
