🌴 A Hidden Gem Just Outside Townsville. I had an absolutely delightful stay at BIG4 Townsville Gateway Holiday Park. From the get-go, the staff were friendly, helpful, and made check-in a breeze. Backing in my 13.5-meter rig was stress-free thanks to the generous site space, always a win when you're towing a big setup and not a "hot-shot" backer.
The facilities were spotless and clearly well looked after, and the park's peaceful setting, (backing onto a serene little stream) added a lovely touch of nature to the experience. The pool - let’s just say I spent more than a few blissful hours in there soaking up the sunshine and winding down.
Yes, you’re near the Bruce Highway, so there’s a light hum of road life in the background, but nothing that interrupted myrelaxation. In fact, being just 10 minutes from Townsville meant I had the best of both worlds, convenience and calm.
Highly recommend this park to fellow travellers. It’s comfortable, well-priced, and just the kind of spot that makes you want to extend your stay, which I did.

Really helpful staff who work all day keeping the grounds and amenities clean and tidy. There are lots of different types of caravan sites to choose from ( shaded, full sun, grass, slab), and they're all level. The budget pet friendly cabins are clean, tidy and have everything you need.

The studio I stayed in was clean, cool and relaxing. Perfect stay for 2 people and possibly 2 children. Bathroom was clean and area felt cosy. Even in the humidity the room cooled down perfectly for a comfortable stay. Definitely stay there again.

The room was dirty, especially the floors and the counters dusty, it also had items still in the room from a previous stay. There was hair in the drain in the bathroom. The studio room are quite run down. I would not recommend staying here. Manager was not easy to deal with he left a spray bottle & cloth in our room to clean up the mess ourselves.

Absolutely disgusting, walked into our room on 02/01/25 to find mould in the aircons and on the seals of the doors. Watermarks all over the ceiling and walls, paint peeling also on the walls, room full of moisture absorbers, sheets and blankets were also disgusting with stains and food stuck to them. To make matters even worse i walked out of the bedroom to find my 2 year old son eating part of a old sandwich he had found under the cushions on the couch. Obviously we were not going to stay after the state of this room. After leaving we were told a manager would contact us shortly for a refund (which never happened and I had to chase them up) then only to be told that the room was not dirty (have photos of the room to prove it was absolutely disgraceful) and we were only entitled to 75% of our money back because one of the kids touched the blanket on the bed and that they would have to re-wash that bed (in my opinion we had been in the room so all the linen and towels should have been washed before the next quests anyway). Would not recommend anyone to stay here, absolutely disgusting would give it 0 stars if it was a option.

Door knob locks do not work, was broken into like it was nothing, with tge door knob locked tge door still opened from the outside. I will not stay here again. Chased them out and kept my partner safe thank god but not security on the cabins

Checked in in the evening and was instantly met with an angry bald man who didn’t identify himself telling us to keep it down as we tried to park at our site. Bathrooms and kitchen areas were filthy and unkempt, Google maps couldn’t even direct us correctly to the campsite. Disappointed with this as I have stayed at other Big4 locations and they have been held to a much higher standard than this.

Great little stay! Definitely family friendly if you are looking at unwinding, but a bit out of the way, if you are looking at being close to city, hard to get in to, lucky we had gps as we had to go through like a little suberb to get to entrance. Parking was very tight so we parked behind our cabin not sure if we were allowed. Driving around had me going into a little panic attack.
