This is the cleanest and tidiest big4 campsite we have been to. It’s smaller than some but so picturesque. Castlemaine is a delight, so much to see in the area. The campsite itself is in a perfect location for exploring or just staying out and relaxing. The botanical gardens are right next door with a cool playground. The public pool is next door and huge. There’s a pub across the way with a great atmosphere, fab cocktails and food and entertainment for the whole family. The mill markets and all they have to offer are also on the doorstep. The camp kitchen is perfect, we only used one shower block but it was pristine, someone told us the other is even better. The games room had a little bit of something for everyone. For a small caravan park, it packed a lot of punch. We will be returning very very soon.

The campsite location is really nice. It is very next to Castlemaine botanical garden & a big swimming pool. It is close to local IGA and good restaurants nearby.

The big issue with the campsite are the facilities. It doesn't have decent play equipments for kids. There are no jumping pillow or kids water play area which are pretty much a norm in most Big4 parks. In addition to this, the camp kitchen is very small with very small and partially functioning fridge - not ideal for a big group of 22 like ours.

To be fair, we had a great time - thanks to the community pool next door (additional payment required), botanical garden with its kids park and nice gardens (~1km from the park).

The park staffs were also conscious of lack of facilities as they tried organizing activities for kids - Elsa visit was a good hit and kids loved scavanger hunt. The morning coffee cart and evening bar were also very thoughtful arrangements.

Overall, a decent spot for a weekend getaway, especially if you’re not seeking kids’ play areas or a well equipped kitchen.

Amazing campsite. Perfect location for exploring Castlemaine and surrounding areas but there also so much on the doorstep if you just want to park up and relax. There’s a pub across the way with fab food, cocktails and entertainment for the whole family. Botanical gardens and public pool are at the entrance to the campsite. The campsite itself was in perfect condition, beautiful setting, it felt so relaxing (even when travelling with kids!). The amenities were super clean and tidy. Games room stocked with something for little and big kids, extra fun provided for children during holidays. Staff were super friendly. We cannot wait to come back and stay again very soon. The campsite is small and unassuming but picturesque and perfectly packaged.

This caravan park being a Big 4 we thought it would be great so didn't mind paying a 100% mark up on a long weekend. We understand you always pay more for a long weekend.
Our powered site was on small stone so hard you couldn't even get a peg into the ground, the site was small couldn't even fit our car onto the site.
Other than that the caravan park is next to Gardens, fairly close to the local shops 20 min walk.

Cleanest caravan park we’ve ever stayed at… the bathrooms and spaces were wonderful. So firstly thank you to the cleaners, your work is excellent. My only feedback would be that our site we couldn’t get our pegs in, even with the drill. Now it wasn’t windy and we didn’t get any rain so we survived but wouldn’t have been ideal if either weather event had happened.
My other tiny gripe was the dog poo… I love that you can bring your dogs, good for you! But for the love of all things holy could you PLEASE pick up after it. Though it should’ve be the caravan parks responsibility, it’s not something nice to smell or step in.
Overall, we’d certainly stay again and the kids are already planning their next adventures through the botanic gardens next door.

Camped for 3 nights in a motorhome on a powered site in February 2025, as part of a group booking (20 people). Spotless bathrooms & camp kitchen very impressive. Handy location near The Mill complex & public swimming pool, good pub food within easy walk too.

What a lovely caravan park. Paid extra for an ensuite powered site - well worth the expense. Brand new facilities with bathmat, hand towel & liquid soap supplied. Best by far that we’ve encountered out of the 4 we’ve booked on our travels. |Easy access to Botanical Gardens from within the park. 5 min walk to The Bridge Hotel for a great meal or The Mill has other options. Flat 15 min walk to Railway Station or Railway Hotel. |Great caravan park, beautiful town - hope to return some day.

Second time staying at Big4 Castlemaine for the AFL grand final long weekend. This year we stayed with friends in one of the luxury villas. It was perfect for 4 adults and 2 teenage boys. 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. Full kitchen, dining and decent size living area. TVs in both main bedrooms. Villa was really clean and all the facilities were great. Decent size outdoor deck with enough seating for the 6 of us. Only complaint was all the beds were quite hard. Maybe thicker mattress toppers would solve this? The park itself is really lovely. Lots of beautiful trees and heaps of variety of accommodation…tent, caravan, ensuite sites, glamping tents and cabins and villas. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Perfect location with the Mills just across the road and great restaurants close by. We spent Grand Final at the Bridge Hotel across the road and it was amazing!!! Definitely going to make this an annual event.
