One of the classic structures in the heart of Bendigo since the 19th century, reflecting the rich history of a city built on gold. It has its decorative interiors adorned with 22 carat gold leaf. Wonderful.

When did the ratepayers or in deed the country vote to change the flag? Pretty disgusting you fly the flag of a single race BUT not the state flag. Obviously the councilors do not believe in democracy. Maybe they should get your grants from the Indigenous nation in future instead of the state or federal government? By the way also flying the Torrens strait
Islander flag? Victoria nor Bendigo are no where near the Torrens strait islands and Victoria was politically never part of it. You may as well fly the flag of a Norfolk or Christmas Island. ff - virtual signallers that don’t know history still need to virtual signal. As a member of a minority myself there’s nothing worse than condescending box tickers.

This classic building in the heart of Bendigo is one of the city’s greatest architectural achievements from the late 19th century. Its decorative interiors are adorned with 22 carat gold leaf, and reflect the history of a city built on gold.

During the height of the gold rush Bendigo’s civic leaders decided that the appearance of the municipal building did not reflect the wealth and splendor of Bendigo’s ‘golden age’.

Local architect W.C Vahland was commissioned to redevelop the Town Hall and came up with a masterpiece that helped to secure his place as one of the city's most revered architects. The Town Hall interiors feature decorative plaster adorned with 22 carat gold leaf, reflecting the stories of a city built on gold.

In 2003 Bendigo Town Hall has returned to the elegance and beauty of its 19th century heritage after an extensive restoration and renovation program including plasterworks, murals and gold leaf worked by skilled artists and artisans.

An outstanding historic building and it's in fantastic condition.
The interior is in a remarkably brilliant and beautiful, and was a great location for a Candlelight Concert.
