After a stay at RPA I Contracted sepsis due to the hospitals filthy state of the rooms etc....cleaning barely exist nurses stretched to the max and not only care for patients but have to clean areas...it's too much, cleaners are the worst I've seen. I had bloodwork prior to being released from RPA but unfortunately these were not followed up on so I was released to go home without the knowledge I had sepsis...Day 2 at home brown bile oozing from hole in stomach where drain had been removed then I went into septic shock. I attended Bathurst ED, they phoned the on call surgeon he opened wound drained as much as possible. Sent to Bathurst ICU staff were amazing. Pain meds, antibiotics through IV. The hospital cleaners are amazing they keep the hospital immaculate. Shout out to all the staff at Bathurst Hospital I can't thank them enough they saved my life. All the care in the world will not help if you are left to recover in a dirty hospital. Bathurst base 5 star.

I had the misfortune to have a heart attack back in August 2024 and was promptly ambulanced (new word) off to Bathurst hospital, I live in Kandos.
This was a complete surprise and I was unprepared, e.g. no ‘go bag’ I have rectified that.

This review is not about me, it is about Dr. Kanishka Kamaladasa. In the interest of expediency we will call him Dr. K.
Back in late 2023, early 2024 he was appointed Head of Cardiology at Bathurst Health Service.

My past experiences of professionals not just medical but across the board is that they are prima donnas, unapproachable, aloof and sometimes arrogant. Dr.K is cast from an entirely different mold. He is the polar opposite of the above mentioned adjectives. His discussions with me were delivered is such a way that I could understand his explanations, not dumbed down and not too academic as Goldilocks would say ‘just right’. If I needed him to expand, he was very patient with his clarifications.

AND happy, he is always smiling, laughing at my most inane jokes/comments, he is very special and if you have a choice, he would be the Medical Professional/Cardiologist I would recommend.

As a public patient I did not have a choice, but God must have been checking up on me and delivered Dr. K to my bedside. Six months post HA Dr. K is very pleased with me, but let’s be fair, I owe much of my current good health to him.

A huge thank you to Bathurst hospital. I critically cut myself just before Christmas and assumed I would be able to care for it myself at home. When the bandaid was stuck we had to go to A&E at Bathurst. My Dr was meticulous in investigating my injury, seeking expert assistance from an orthopedic surgeon, taking X-rays and cleaning and redressing the wound. I was expecting her to just redress my would and I’ll be on my way but she spent two hours with me working on my injury and seeking expert guidance. 10 days later I had to go back to the fracture clinic to have the wound reviewed and again, the doctors and nurses were so professional, knowledgeable and caring. I had heard bad reviews about the care and service from Bathurst Hospital but we have nothing but high praises for their attention and assistance .

I live in Orange.
On April 25th, my husband and I were going home after meeting a friend in the Blue Mountains.

But suddenly my husband said he had a terrible stomachache and vomited.

So we went to the emergency room of this hospital.

The nurses treated my husband kindly while holding his stomach, and the receptionists were also friendly.

We waited for about 3 minutes to see the doctor, and the test results showed that it was appendicitis, so we had surgery.

While my husband stayed for 3 days and 2 nights, all the nurses and doctors made him feel safe and comfortable.

The hospital was also a clean environment.
Also, the doctors were kind.

This is my husband's third surgery, and he was very impressed with this hospital.
Through this article,
I would like to thank all the medical staff.

I am currently on the Surgical ward at BHS, and it is 1230 in the a.m. I feel compelled to write a heartfelt thank you to the night staff on shift. Rita my nurse is incredibly attentive and compassionate, I am very grateful for her ability and pre-emptive care. I work within health and must say her demeanour lends itself to nursing. I did not expect to be in this situation when I awoke yesterday morning, but am at ease for her and other night staffs care. Thankyou 🙏.

Emergency Services at Bathurst Base Hospital is not one of the best, it is indeed the best. From first hand observation I witnessed how dedicated thorough and professional the ED Team was, thanks to its leadership both nursing and medical staff. A very valuable asset this department is not only for Bathurst but also the West NSW region. ✅✅👌👌
