UPDATE: 7/2/25
Another 3 day trip to The River land. Berri, Waikerie, Loxton, Renmark, finishing off at Swan Reach. Course was in very good condition given the very dry summer we’ve had. Trevor and the rest of the members were welcoming as always.
The course is long with an excellent layout. They have a great little par-3 which has a blind tee shot that you hit over a little creek setting with reeds. We were reminded of how beautiful, quiet and peaceful the location is.
Given the climate, this is a course you can play all year round.
UPDATE: 2/8/24
3 golf golf trip from Adelaide to play Waikerie Golf Course followed by Barmera Golf Course. Staying at Big River resort. Playing Loxton in the morning followed by Berri on day two. On the final day we played Swan Reach GC followed by Mount Pleasant.
Barmera Golf Course was in excellent condition. The greens were exceptionally fast, making for a very challenging day. The greens were the winner. It is always a pleasure to play Barmera.

4 day golf trip from Adelaide to play Waikerie GC and Barmera GC on day one. Staying at Mildura golf resort for 2 nights and playing Mildura GC and Coomealla on day two. Day 3 we played Riverside GC and Redcliffs GC. We drove back and stayed at the Loxton hotel. Day 4 we played Loxton GC followed by Berri GC and then back to Adelaide.
As expected, Barmera GC was in excellent condition. Given that we are at the end of summer the fairways, bunkers and greens were looking great. Gary was very welcoming in the clubhouse. An excellent course to play. Please read my previous reviews.
UPDATE: 19/5/23 A slightly different three day trip. We began day one of our golf trip at Keith GC followed by Bordertown GC. Next day we played Loxton GC followed by Berri GC and the final day we played Barmera GC and Waikerie GC ………. Then back home to Adelaide by 4.30pm.
As expected, the Barmera golf course was in excellent condition. Fairways, bunkers and greens in excellent condition. Strategically placed mounds surrounding many of the greens added to our challenges. Always an enjoyable visit.
UPDATE 17/2/23 We went on our usual short two day holiday to the Riverland. We played Barmera GC in the morning, and Berri GC in the afternoon staying there overnight at The Big River Golf and Country Club . Our accommodation and meals were excellent. The next morning we played Loxton GC and finally Swan Reach GC. A fantastic short golfing holiday.
As expected, the course was in excellent condition. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition. All the bunkers were freshly raked. . A very peaceful and well located Golf Course. Highly recommend

We went on our usual short two day holiday to the Riverland. We played Waikerie in the morning, Loxton in the afternoon and stayed at The Big River Golf and Country Club using a State government voucher. The next day we played Berri in the morning and Barmera in the afternoon and then back to Adelaide by 5.00pm. A fantastic short golfing holiday.
As expected, the Barmera golf course was in excellent condition. The fairways and bunkers were all manicured. Special mention about the excellent condition of the greens. It was the opening of their winter season with both a Stableford and Pinehurst competition. Trevor was very accommodating and organised our early Teeoff time. Members were very welcoming as we played our round of golf. Be sure to add Barmera golf club to your bucket list of courses to play in the country SA.

The friendly local members informed our group that this is a public course. SAY WHAT? This course is in way better condition than any metropolitan Adelaide public course and would rival a couple of the private clubs as well.... Beer is cheap, the pro shop has a good range of clothing and knick knacks and the course is a beauty (if you can keep your ball on the fairway)

The course has a pretty good lay out considering it is run mostly by volunteers. The clubhouse is spacious, has clean modern toilets and the beer is cold and reasonably priced. The course itself is surprisingly long, the fairways are in reasonable condition but the greens are small and an absolute nightmare. You need to be a very good chipper, able to spin and check the ball if you want to get anywhere near the pin. As a hacker like me you’re better off putting from the rough but again good luck trying to judge the pace. The rough is annoying too. It’s punishing enough being in there generally with a sandy lie and plenty of trees blocking your path. Unfortunately for some reason they’ve decided to intersperse a lot of the holes with large gorse, dome like bushes with the vegetation all the way to the ground and often several meters in circumference. Once in it can be two penalty drops to get out which is ridiculous. A little slower greens, and a little more forgiving rough it would be a very good course.

What a great country golf club. The course with only one groundstaff attendant and lots of volunteers is really good. Great greens and challenging fairways. The members make you feel extremely welcome which all adds to a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful golf course, accommodation was nice except tv never worked, antenna wasn't working and no Ac in bedroom, it was warm and couldn't open windows in bedroom as they had no screens, other than that it was great.
