This room was nothing short of disgusting. Black mould in bathroom - on ceiling and bathroom tiles. Dangerous to get in and out of bath/shower arrangement due to the deep bath. Filth on the hairdryer and the toilet brush has never been cleaned. The walls were dirty and covered in dust. Booking.com rated this motel at 3.5 stars hence our decision to stay here. Awful experience. Nothing like the images provide on the internet. This is no excuse for poor housekeeping!!

- restaurant food is nice
The not so good:
- no staff on check in, sign saying to call a number - nobody picked up
- tried calling restaurant via room phone, didn’t work. Reception also didn’t work. Had to use my personal phone to order room service
- had to call again when my food arrived as drink was missing
- advertised bath/shower combo, but upon entering the plug was missing
- a little bit of noise from the road and other patrons, nothing too crazy but worth mentioning

Overall a positive experience and good value for money.

The staff were quite friendly. ||The restaurant attached has tasty food. ||The cleanliness of the room was not great! ||The plug for the bath didn’t fit and asked for another one, which they did bring straight down. It had black mould all under it, ||There was black mould all over the bathroom roof. Was cleaned when asked but had to give instructions to the cleaner on how to do it and explain that it’s a health hazard. ||The dust in the room is something else!!|| Found some interesting items in the beside drawer.., glad they weren’t found by my son. ||The location is quite good. Met our needs. ||The bed is okay. Sheets clean and bed well made. ||Very noisy. A family must live upstairs. Didn’t bother us as I have a young child but may bother others. ||The room was quite cheap but the cleanliness was the worst I’ve seen in any motel ever. Please see photos.

We had a very nice stay at the Barkly. The staff were super friendly and our room was clean and well kept. Just a short walk from the centre of town and 30mins from the lake.

I stayed here for one night with my partner. I noticed some of other reviews on here commented about noise, you do hear muffled noise from other rooms. I usually expect this from any type of accommodation I stay at so it was nothing out of the norm.
Appliances/AC/TV etc. Worked fine.
The lady at reception was friendly but very firm about the rules so much so that my guess is its a common occurrence in the past where someone has done the wrong thing.
The room was spotless including the bathroom 👌 even down to the bed linen, clean white and no weird stains 😄. And that's coming from someone that used to clean professionally and perform quality assurance checks.
Check out was hassle free also. There is a key box at the entrance for early check out. We checked out well before 10.30am so the reception wasn't open at the time however there was someone cleaning the foyer so I'm sure if we had questions we could have asked them.
The room we stayed in looked modern or like it had been renovated recently too, so it was definitely nice to stay in.
Overall our stay was excellent and didn't run into any issues, would definitely consider booking again in future.

I booked this hotel through wotif, decided to pay on arrival at a higher rate as was not sure we would definitely be staying there at the time I booked it as driving through the town back home, booked approx 2 weeks prior. The week we went on vacation, we definitely thought we would stop there on the way home and intended to stay. My husband was attending the football which was a later game than thought, so I was waiting with my son to leave. I had 4 missed calls on my mobile from a number I didn’t know between 6:45 and 6:52pm. No messages were left so I assumed it was a telemarketer. I then had an unknown number call which I answered, I could hardly hear the caller and thought again it must have been telemarketer so I hung up. I then got a text message from the number called earlier saying I was banned from Ballarat for the rest of my life! I called the number back straight away and asked if it was the accommodation as they didn’t advise who they were when they picked up the phone. They said yes and that they had called me all afternoon, that I was dodgy and was never coming. They had not been calling me all afternoon, in fact when I called back it was 7:05, 20 mins after they first tried to call me. Lady was very rude on the phone, never experienced such bad customer service prior to even getting to the hotel! Certainly left an impression of that accommodation and I feel sorry for the staff that work there and anyone who comes into contact with this lady. Definitely didn’t seem like she wanted our business. Ended up staying at another hotel in Ballarat which was lovely.
