This motel was the cheapest my wife and I could find for an overnight stay from Brisbane to Newcastle and we got what we paid for.||||There is no opening hours for the front desk so you need to ring the mobile (which said it was disconnected) or press the bell or ring the front desk and they will come when they are ready and be upset if you are a little impatient.||||As for the room it was clean, it had an air con/heater, analogue tv, coffee/tea, fridge and it had a shower, toilet and bed. The room was pretty clean for what it was but don't expect anything too much. The bed was hard and the blankets were thin but the heater compensated even if it was a little noisy. The shower was warm enough and the pressure was a little weak but did the job.||||This was a cheap motel and we got what we paid for which ultimately was ok. I would probably splash out a little more next time and I would probably not stay here again.

Dropped in to the Ballina Motel for a two night stay with a mate while on a trip up the coast. We wanted something cheap, yet reasonable enough and for $75 for the night we thought we had found it...how wrong we were! ||On upon entering the extremely small room, the first thing we noticed was the tiled floors with two beds- both on wheels which moved everytime there was any weight put on them. Voices that weren't ours could be heard through the paper thin walls and the room smelt like a sweaty old man. The bathroom had more hair on the floor than there was visable tiles, and the toilet paper was so thin and scratchy that every time you wiped it could have been mistaken for sand paper. ||Outside our room was the remnants of what could be described as grass, but had become mud patches that smelt of manure. ||There were several suspicious stains on the blankets on the bed and the chairs which occupied the small room. ||This place was extremely dirty, dated, and should really be shut down before someone catches an unidentified disease. ||We forfeited our second night stay and strongly suggest the owners use the extra $75 to fix the place up a bit. ||Absolutely APPAULING!

This is the sort of place that one would stay purely out of desperation. We stayed here for one night during the 2014 Byron Blues Feast because we couldn't get accommodation elsewhere. To say that it is basic is overstating it. The room's had a very musty smell, the decor was dated (or at least stuff Vinnies would reject!) and the beds were truly one of a kind -my kid's trampoline has more spring. We would have been better just pitching a tent somewhere else. I suspect even the hardest criminals have better accommodation that this. Suffice to say we checked out and got a much better deal at a local caravan park. My advice, avoid at all costs.

Pick another motel.||Ballina is an amazing place.||The owner is all about taking your hard earned cash.||Staff are amazing and cannot do enough for you. The condition of the rooms are terrible.||In my single room I had a small table to put my suitcase on, three kitchen chairs but no easy chair to watch the television.||A small bedside cupboard consisting of three small drawers was all there was to unpack for the week||Hard to watch TV of an evening as the four pillows on the bed were so soft they couldn't prop you up||The vanity was coming away from the bathroom wall ||The dining area had no form of air conditioning not even a fan it was unpleasant to dine under those circumstances.|| John the owner even had his car parked next to the tables with a For Sale sign on it.||Iv been on this tour twice before and couldn't fault it and iv recommended the tour to many people.||'Nightly entertainment' consisted of ONE night entertainment.

Stayed here for the night on a trip south. All I needed was a place to get a good night sleep that was clean and comfortable without breaking the bank. Ballina motel was the place and was more than happy. The bed was great, the room was neat and clean and the bathroom was a good size and spotlessly clean. Not somewhere I would spend a weeks holiday but good inexpensive accommodation. Recommend.

As we drove towards our room I noticed how muddy the grounds were around the motel. Upon entering our room the first thing I noticed was the musty smell. The room decor was dated and in my opinion should be chucked out, I don't even think St Vinnies would accept the bed and bedside table. The toilet & basin dripped all night and the shower ran hot water all night, the tiles were cracked in the bathroom which was dangerous. The sliding door of the ensuite actually fell off its tracks and I had to hang onto to it to avoid being hit on the head, I had to yell out to my husband to help me put the door back on its tracks. There was only about 12 sheets of toilet paper left on the roll and we had to go out and buy our own as no-one was contactable in the office. The towels stunk like you wouldn't believe, luckily we had our own we could use. We were so surprised that a place like this is actually operating given all the negatives.

We stayed here for three nights, it was all we could get into when Splendour in the Grass was on in Byron Bay. The room was clean with bedding and furniture that is extremely old and worn. The sink was cracked and chipped and I thought it might fall off the wall and the bathroom smelled musty.||||After getting back from the music festival at 1am we found the low battery reminder was going off on the smoke alarm, a loud beep every 5 minutes or so, we couldn't sleep.||||No-one answered the doorbell and the mobile number on the office door went straight to voicemail. We reported it at the desk the next morning and they removed the whole smoke alarm from the room.||||It was cheap but not cheap enough (we paid $75 for one night and $95 for the other two).

This motel has a new owner who is really hospitable.I found my stay here was quite nice also it was dog friendly. Close to Ballina township and to all of the beaches which made it easy to walk everywhere. I would highly recommend it to couplesi8 or single people as it has a reasonable weekly rate which is way cheaper than the other motels along river steet in Ballina.
