Ballarat Wildlife Park might just be the most enjoyable zoo I’ve ever visited. It’s not the biggest, but the experience was incredibly fun and interactive. Being able to walk among the free-roaming kangaroos and feed them was such a highlight — they were so gentle and friendly! The staff were lovely and very knowledgeable, and we got to see iconic Australian animals like koalas, wombats, and even Tasmanian devils up close. There’s something really special about how open and relaxed the park feels. It’s perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals. Absolutely worth a visit if you’re in Ballarat!

Visited Ballarat Wildlife Park on a Sunday at 3pm and was pleasantly surprised, caught kangaroos mid-fight and saw koalas during feeding time, more active than I’ve ever seen them! Managed to see all the animals without the crowds. Honestly, better value than Werribee Open Range or Melbourne Zoo well worth the entry fee!

love this place so much. I've been here 4 times. And always want to come back. Kangaroo food at the entrance is not necessary. They all well fed and lazy to move. Very safe and calm to pet. All the animal presentations are fun. Staff are super friendly. Highly recommend for family.

We had an incredible time at this pristine and gorgeous wildlife park. The highlight of our visit was feeding kangaroos, which my child absolutely adored. Unexpectedly, the crocodile show turned out to be a standout experience as well—it was thrilling to watch the impressive 5-meter beast leap out of the water to snatch its meal. This is truly a must-visit destination and comes highly recommended!

Perfect day full of animals
It’s a small but very convenient park with different animals. Just after your entrance you’ll see a lot of kangaroos walking/laying on a grass/jumping - it’s really awesome! There are friendly and you can feed them and take a lot of different pictures. Also you can meet other animals with some scheduled presentations - approx 15min speech from the staff about some of them. You’ll definitely hear something new about them. But the key entertainment part are animals encounters (also scheduled) - I highly recommend you to book the visit before the entrance of you’re interested in it - places are limited, first booked - first served. We’ve been there on Monday in 10:30 am - there were no available places, all encounters were booked.
There are a refill water station, a restaurant and a souvenir shop on site.
Overall, we’ve spent there 2 hours (without lunch) and it was funny!

Lots too see for everyone,
Crunch is massive to see in person also love the viewing window underwater in crunch and Bella's area...

Review of Ballarat Wildlife Park

Ballarat Wildlife Park is an amazing place for animal lovers, offering up-close encounters with a variety of wildlife.

What We Loved:
• Kangaroos Roaming Freely – One of the best parts of the experience! The kangaroos walk around the park, and visitors can feed and pet them. They are incredibly friendly and unafraid of people, making for a truly special interaction.
• Close Animal Encounters – Many animals are easily accessible, allowing visitors to observe them up close.
• Relaxed Atmosphere – The park provides a calm and enjoyable setting to interact with wildlife.

Things to Keep in Mind:
• Kangaroos Get Full by the Afternoon – If you want to feed the kangaroos, it’s best to visit earlier in the day, as they lose interest in food once they’ve had their fill.
