Hello, the check-in experience was very bad.

1.On the first day of check-in, it was found that the sewer and toilet were not cleaned thoroughly, accumulating dirt and grime. There are no slippers, toothbrushes or toothpaste in the room.

2. I booked a double room. The room rate includes dinner for two people. I confirmed with the staff in advance whether two dinners could be provided. The staff said yes. But when I checked out at the end, I was charged an extra meal fee. Extremely shameless.

3.The person who came to taste the wine had a very bad attitude. It was an old woman with black hair and a hunched back, asking me arrogantly if I wanted to taste the wine. I said I had made a reservation for chocolate and wine tasting. She deliberately placed my chocolate in the wrong position. She only poured a little wine for me. After she finished pouring, she chatted with irrelevant people, showing no respect for me at all. When it came to promoting the wine at the end, she was actually very active. It was really disgusting.

4.On the last day of the meal, I had some sparkling water left after drinking it, so the waiter took it away for me. The waiter brought me a bottle of sparkling water with a black cap, which has been opened. I asked if it was new and he replied yes. But the guests at other tables all drank sparkling water with silver bottle caps. I didn't drink it. I asked the front desk to give me another bottle and got the unopened sparkling water.

We were beyond happy during our 4 days stay at the Balgownie for our wedding + guests.

Service + Location:
The staff is fantastic and is the driver of all of our positive experience. The property is located ~1hr outside of Melbourne - we are from out of town and first time visiting here. Area is very quiet and a great getaway from the city. We had a group booking with ~10 rooms and the staff took care of each one of us during our stay. The staff is friendly, professional, and accommodating of our group - often recommending arrangements that would improve our experience proactively. We had the opportunity to use one of the group rooms as well for an event and it was very well catered.

Food:
Food is fantastic but wish the portion is slightly smaller so we don't waste so much food!

Room:
Property is in a modern condition, very clean and I thought was quite family friendly too. I particularly enjoyed the aesthetics of the hotel which combined modern design with some retro style - all worked well together.

Facilities:
Complete with gym, a small indoor pool and spa (plus outdoor balcony in some rooms + restaurant) - couldn't ask for more.

If you are looking for a weekend getaway or somewhere to visit near Melbourne, I highly recommend staying at Balgownie to make a special experience!

Bedroom felt a little dark and the window view was on walk way so we had to have the blind down the whole time …if booking ask about the positioning of the room .
View from balcony was pleasant ..
Breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed our wine tasting ..
Staff were friendly…
Dinner was ok … not much to say about the food in my opinion a more basic menu may have been a better option ..
Desserts were yummy wine pairing really nice .

We had the superior package. The rooms were some of the best and latest we've stayed in. Great balcony to enjoy the view. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The wine tasting very enjoyable. The dinner and breakfast were first class. No complaints at all.

We had a wonderful weekend stay at Balgownie winery. Our room was lovely and had a fantastic view. We took part in the free 1-hour wine tasting which was a real treat and had dinner in the in- house restaurant. It was probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had.
The stay cost us a bit of money, but definitely worth it for special occasions :).

Love the peace and quiet of Balgownie Estate. Near to the winery and close to nature. Especially love the big space room, with heater in the bath was much loved. We barely left the room and just hung out in the room Wished the service level could be improve to make the trip perfect. Have sent 3 emails/query via Trip portal prior to our arrival, to seek advise in getting around Yarra but to no response at all. Upon approach the counter, the attitude of the reception was nonchalant on whatever question we post to them. Could have been better! That aside, Yarra Valley is just simply beautiful!

This property is absolutely beautiful, offering breathtaking views along with great amenities like a pool, spa, gym, and more. ||The restaurant staff were some of the friendliest I’ve ever encountered — warm, welcoming, and always taking the time to say hello or strike up a friendly conversation. They truly made us feel at home. ||Our hotel room was spacious, elegantly designed, and immaculately clean — easily one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed.
