The First National Real Estate Leadership Award has provided the ability to share stories that need attention. From Indigenous issues, to climate change in agriculture, these areas require a national spotlight now to create long-lasting, multi-generational change. The Award has enabled me to tell the stories of my People, sharing the importance of history and culture to modern day decision making. The Awards were really well run, with great organisers who made sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable. Entering the rewards was a positive experience, giving us the opportunity to see where we doing well and where there was room for improvement. On the night, we had the opportunity to network with some inspirational people and made some friends along the way. It was a huge honour to win an award - it provided the inspiration to keep going, and the confidence to reach out and help the younger generation achieve their dreams. If it were not for your efforts in the organization and hosting of this prestigious event our efforts would go by largely unnoticed. Your ability to get the level of sponsorship and coverage is massive. I feel that it is events such as this which make us able to hone our efforts and take time to focus on what it is we do and make sure that we keep doing it to the best of our ability. With the recognition and attention this award gives us, we are able to spread an unbiased message to the greater community on who we are and what we do. The Gala night was absolutely spectacular! I would have to say everyone needs to experience a Gala night at least once in their life.

These Awards are so important for South Australia because it recognises young achievers. These young achievers do what they love and when people are passionate about what they do they often don’t look for recognition. So having these awards that recognises young achievers just puts more determination in their wonderful minds to strive forwards, and it shows others that they can do it too.

Being a winner of the Santos Regional Service Award is an amazing feeling. It shows that my hard work is being recognised, but everyone there that night is just as amazing at what they do and what they have achieved.

On the night when it was my turn to do a speech, I was so overwhelmed that I cut my speech short. What I had planned to say was to give a little information about me:

“I was born with a condition called Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy. It basically means my muscles eventually waste away. Being wheelchair bound I know how hard it is just to get up in the mornings, I mean without my support workers or my mum I’d still be in bed. I know and experience the daily challenges which is why I am such a strong advocate for people with disabilities. Those who don’t have a voice. Being a part of the organisations in Whyalla such as the Youth Advisory Committee, a member of the Ageing and Disability Advisory Group and now an elected member for the for Whyalla City Council, I can provide my insights on my struggles so people can become more aware and have a better understanding of the difficulties people with disabilities have to face daily, and to hopefully make changes in the near future.”

It has been my honour to receive the Community Resilience Award for 2020, an unprecedented and challenging year for us all and a privilege to come along-side so many hard working and talented people.
It has been very rewarding to have played an active role in supporting the community in which I live.
The work in helping to recover from the initial impacts of the bushfire that severely damaged the town and district and then to play a role in establishing the Mallacoota and District Recovery Association, has been both a great challenge and very rewarding as Mallacoota and surrounds move forward in bushfire recovery.
Awards Australia's event manager has been brilliant in the way she managed and coordinated communication with award nominees and then the award ceremony, while faced with the many challenges thrown our way by the Covid pandemic.
Thanks Awards Australia for making participation in this event seamless and easy. Your management of this event is a great example of a well organised and efficient company.

Winning the outstanding apprentice of the year 2020 and the most voted finalist out of all categories have changed my life. I have not only now finished my apprenticeship but have now gone onto doing my diploma of engineering and furthering to university to complete the bachelor of engineering. I felt confidence I have never felt in my life and was a total reward worth applying and believing in. Was the best thing I’ve done.

"Winning the social impact and community service award meant a lot to me. It was nice to feel like the work I have been doing is recognised and celebrated by others who aren’t as invested in it as I am. It gave me even more confidence and drive to keep moving forward and helping young people prepare for the world of work. I also believe that it has given my work more credibility and I am grateful for that. Celebrating with my friends and family made it even more worth it by attending the Gala.
