Kakadu National Park day tour is a must-visit for its stunning natural beauty and cultural significance – and this tour was the perfect way to experience it!

The adventure began with an optional stop at the Jumping Croc Cruise on the Adelaide River, and let me tell you, it was worth every second. Watching those crocs leap out of the water was unforgettable. On the way, we also swung by the Corroboree Park Tavern to grab lunch. Don’t miss saying hello to Fred and Brutus, the crocs, and the water buffalo hanging out out the back – a quirky little stop!

Since we toured during the wet season, most of the spots on their ad were closed due to flooding (check ahead before you book). But no worries – our guide, Becs, had plenty of backup plans up her sleeve. Her knowledge and stories were brilliant, weaving together local history, her personal experiences in the NT, and insights about the Aboriginal mobs in the area.

Yes, it’s a long day (Kakadu is a solid trek from Darwin), and the bumpy roads make for a rough ride at times, but that’s all part of the adventure. Sitting back, soaking in the epic scenery, and knowing you’re on sacred, World Heritage-listed land is nothing short of magical. Memories like this are what travel is all about!

1 day Kakadu Tour & croc cruise- Autopia arranged an alternative at Fogg Dam as flooding meant croc cruise was not operating. Our tour guide Emily, did a brilliant job from the minute we climbed aboard the 4wd vehicle, it was purpose built for the top end wet season. Her commentary was very knowledgeable and entertaining. She could tell us all about the history of the areas we visited, she has deep knowledge of First Nations relations to the land, the history and cultural significance of the sites we visited. The places we visited all had unique stories which she shared with us. We got to see a croc in its natural habitat at Fogg, and brolga and jabiru and countless other birds and wildlife in Kakadu. She knows all the birds and extensive knowledge of the wildlife , the geology of the region and she is a wealth of local knowledge of each place. We visited some amazing rock art, and the walks were easy even in the heat and high humidity. Her depth of knowledge of the animals, history and geology was very impressive and her enthusiasm was infectious. She got us back right on time, her driving skills are superb, the whole group had a wonderful day, next time we will opt for a longer tour.

We did the 5 day Kakadu, KATHERINE GORGE & LITCHFIELD TOUR. Elliott was our guide and it was clear that he is passionate about the parks and the ancient First Nations culture. Elliott shared his knowledge and stories from the area and took us to some amazing places. We had the perfect group with everyone pitching in to get tasks done. Elliott's good humour and the group ensured that nothing seemed like a chore. On our last night we cooked a meal in the camp oven on the fire which would have rivalled all others, (Darryl). Delicious!
We had a fabulous 5 days, highly recommend. (The only downside was a couple of beds in safari tents at Katherine had seen better days and were quite uncomfortable. Hopefully these will be repaired.)
THANKS ELLIOTT!

I joined the “4 day Kakadu Tour from Darwin” of Autopia tours recently. I don’t normally join tour groups but due to the remoteness of the Kakadu park, I decided on a tour. The tour exceeded my expectations. Not only I was marveled by the beauty of everything I saw on the tour, I was quite impressed by the knowledge and experience of our guide Jay. Throughout the journey, Jay kept us entertained by her commentaries on the surroundings. Our group consisted of people with varying levels of fitness, elderly as well as kids. Despite this Jay managed to keep the whole group together , looking after the wellbeing of each and everyone. She was energetic , thoughtful and always with a smile, simply a superwoman.
I learnt quite a lot about aboriginal culture from this tour. The highlights for me from the tour were, watching sunset from Ubirr, the hike to Jim Jim falls and taking a dip in beautiful Maguk.
Thanks Jay & Autopia Tours for making my holiday in Top end a memorable one.

PS: loved Safari style camping too

Kakadu and jumping crocodile tour one day Autopia. Great tour Saw some jumping crocs on Adelaide river. Jason was great with great stories. Great to see they use local indigenous tour guides. Highly recommend and if you do a tour you get 20.00 off next tour. Ironically I did Katherine with this company 21 people crammed into a minibus but today less people and we get a full size coach.
