A well maintained botanical garden with rain forest. We loved moving in the forest area and got to see the small animals like porcupine, parrots, monitor lizard etc.
We enjoyed the calm of the forest just outside (1 km) outside the city of Canberra. Thanks ACT to maintain such a nice heritage near ANU

Very nice gardens with lots of local wildlife, aka lizards left right and centre, along with dozens of different bird types. It gets hot in summer so take plenty of water, hats and sunscreen. Slip slop slap… Great for an hour or so easy walking. Dirt tracks require a bit more time and energy. Very photogenic gardens.

Delightful botanic gardens. Extensive and peaceful, since it's not a major attraction, and hey, it's Canberra. The rainforest gully is particularly lovely and cool on a hot day with all the misters. Be prepared for some up and down since it's on the hillside of Black mountain. We saw lots of birds as well, including Bower birds. Great cafe and bookstore as well. There's also a spa center. Great place for picnics. Free entry, but paid parking.

Walked from central Canberra through the university campus - took about 45 mins from the Adina hotel.

Gardens themselves are beautiful, well presented and fantastic opportunity to see native Australian plant species. I could have spent a lot longer here exploring, fully displays were particularly impressive

Must go in Canberra. It's free but need to pay for parking, would recommend 2 hours atleast so you can relax and enjoy, some construction going on otherwise very Serene and quite for the most part. Very helpful volunteer staff and there is also free guided tour at 11 am and 2 pm. Visitor centre, toilets, cafe plus it's only a small drive from the city centre.

Up Date of October 2024
Road works on Clunies Ross St, at the traffic lights on the main Rd, can only turn left heading out of the Gardens

Wonder place the Botanical Gardens to visit with great walking trails to explore a big range of flowing plants & trees,

The rainforest area is beautiful and a cool area to walk through in the heat of summer. Just watch your footing with snakes! The bird life is amazing!

The desert area is the red centre piece of Botanical Gardens...

The Cafe at the entrance is a great place to grad a drink or a feed if you had forgotten to pick them in...

Also a great spot to take the kids have a picnic and relax with good views and the smell of the flowers in full bloom, perfect!

Loads of parking available, also public toilets can be found throughout the park.

We went for brunch to Pollen the garden's café. We were a party of 9, and overall, it hit the mark!

Service was a little slow re taking our orders but in all fairness, they were fully booked.

Luckily, the food was fresh, fast and tasty plus, we had perfect eggs all round.

Bookings are a must if you don't want to be disappointed.
