We are Kelpie people and this detour through Casterton was a must do for any Kelpie lovers…. If the Movie Red Dog got you curious about the amazing Kelpie breed than put Casterton on your bucket list and the Kelpie Centre is a must.

The kelpie museum itself was absolutely fabulous... but the women at the information centre could not be bothered hardly lifted her head up from the computer... I asked her a few questions about casterdon, couldn't be bothered to answer just 1 word ... I got more information from the beautiful lady in the dress shop ... the element cafe for lunch was lovely... casterdon is a beautiful town full of lovely friendly people . I had a wonderful time chatting to the locals and spending money ....
For future reference ask the locals .. and as for the woman at the information centre brush up on your people skills..

I have a beautiful Kelpie X Border red dog and as l passed this place l thought my dog would like a look ...it has everything Kelpie which are primarily sheepdogs but if your prepared to give them a couple of hours exercise a day make a fantastic companion dog... Loyal smart and full of energy happy dogs ...photos postcards paintings it's Kelpie HQ...check it out feel good these dogs are well represented here in many ways 5starz

We detoured our trip home just so we could checkout the Kelpie centre.
It has a room filled with info about Kelpies and their history, and a small shop area, but that's all.
Was not all we hoped it would be, perhaps an actual Kelpie or two would be nice

Great information centre with range of memorabilia and the Kelpie Museum. Very clean toilets at the rear and plenty of parking for cars and those towing.

The place was unfortunately closed when I was there. They have a set of brochures which where very helpful on my holiday.
