Today I had what can only be described as a perfect example of incompetent rudeness. Was told by the lady with blonde hair and glasses serving behind the Australia Post counter that I could not use a 65c Christmas stamp on my letter. I wanted to buy extra postage stamps to make up the $1.50 postage required. She said again that I couldn’t use the stamp and if I wanted extra stamps that I would get a lot. Her gentleman coworker said to just sell me the extra stamps, she said for the sake of peace she would? She then proceeded to give me the smallest denominations available to be difficult. Clearly not being able to add up she gave me 65c worth instead of 85c worth. All the while insisting that I couldn’t use this perfectly legal stamp. Upon pointing this out she threw the stamps at me. A long story to tell about the most ridiculous and unnecessary treatment of a customer I’ve experienced for a long while. She apparently has a reputation that I later found out by other people, I highly recommend her to get another job. As for the gentleman working beside her shame on you for your weakness in not calling her appalling behaviour out.

I’d agree with some others that the service has been generally friendly and helpful on the few occasion I’ve gone in here, but very disappointed in the service received today.

I rang because a card with a small gift posted on 21st December to Sydney never arrived.

I paid for tracking but, unfortunately, misplaced my receipt. I did have proof of purchase with a receipt number on my bank statement, however, and so I rang to see whether it’d be possible to reprint a receipt from a known date and time so I could get the tracking number. The person on the phone just flat out said no “due to privacy” (despite the fact I’d be able to verify the bank statement was mine with ID) and said they could “never” reprint a receipt “even if they wanted to”.

Now I didn’t bother going into this as they seemed uninterested in a discussion and referred me to the AusPost general line. There is NO WAY that it is just flat-out impossible to reprint a receipt unless your register is from 1932, so I’d suggest not using that line with customers. I’d also suggest telling customers there’s no way to look this stuff up and telling them to make sure they keep their receipt or take a photo in case they lose it. This has proved very helpful for other retailers.

I appreciate Christmas is busy, however Christmas is not new, and yes, I lost my receipt, and have to accept the consequences. However you have managed to lose my parcel and card and what, no consequences for you Come on you guys, be reasonable. I’ve worked in retail long enough to know that customers aren’t always right, but you gotta do your bit too.

Received a parcel posted from Salamander Bay LPO.
Tough Bag 400mm x 435mm with 700mm gusset.

It says 'Signature on Delivery'... yet, was left on our front doorstep while I was home. My phone number as recipient was on the front.
The senders phone number was on the back.

There were a few small items inside, yet the parcel had a hole at one end big enough to put my hand through. The normal opening end was coming apart as well. There are some weak small paper staples holding the Tough Bag closed - these separated in transit.
Why didn't the LPO tape up both ends such as I see my local PO (Ricmond NSW) do when I have posted things sold on facebook marketplace.

I still have the Tough Bag if Australia Post cares to have that back as an example of how not to send Tough Bags.

I’ve had one good experience with a female employee here but this time the employees, a man and a different woman, were rude and had a horrible attitude towards me and my daughter. I have never experienced such horrible customer service.

Wow! Never thought I would write a review for a post office but the service and help I got from here and the guys at Taylors Beach for the parcel delivery went above and beyond. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful and they were able to resolve my issue quick sticks, even calling me back to provide an update. Really appreciate it guys!

Always horrendously rude to customers in here. Today it was to two very elderly people just doing their thing. Go to Nelson Bay post office and avoid this place.
