9pm Ghost Tour. Our Tour Guide Alice was witty, knowledgeable and very friendly. Her sense of humor as well as her empathy for the stories she told shone through as the night progressed.
Myself, my partner and my two children enjoyed the night immensely, definitely a must do if you are going to Beechworth!

Me and my bestie did this ages ago 2010 so bit late on the review but I still remember it being good fun, our tour guide was awesome. If you’re into spooky stories and history this was a goodie.

What a great 2 nights at Beechworth Asylum. Thursday night we did the ghost tour with Miss Elizabeth, she was a great guide and full of information and history.

The Friday night we did the 3 hour paranormal investigation. The final hour the 2 of us had the place to ourself with the guide. She was excellent (can't remember her name unfortunately) but told us some cool stories and we had contact and experiences with someone in the laundry area.

Highly recommended, such an awesome place to visit and the guides were both excellent. Would certainly come back if in the area! I've done heaps of ghost tours and investigations and this was a great experience and up towards the top of my list, so much activity there!

We did the late night paranormal tour ( you can book the two or three hour tour, ( we chose the three hour. What a fabulous night exploring the asylum by torch light.....that adds to the ambience of the tour. At 11.30pm, when the two hour group left, it was just my husband and I with our guide and got to enter another part of the asylum, which was the hospital. It's not very often you get to wander around an abandoned asylum in the dark.....loved it! Our guide ( sorry, I forgot his name) was brilliant. Next time we go back to Victoria, I would definitely do the history tour and ghost tour as I think that it would give another perspective on the paranormal tour.
I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and I highly recommend doing all three events if you can.
I took this photo as the rain started to fall.
Sunday 24th November 9.30pm tour.

I attended a paranormal investigation with a friend. The guides were knowledgeable and made for an absolutely enjoyable experience that was more exciting than scary. We even upgraded, in the moment, to the longer investigation to keep the night going.
I’ll be back to do this again soon!!

Great tour, I took my 10year old on the twilight ghost tour, we loved it!
Our guide was brilliant! She was professional, engaging, and knowledgeable. Her stories of her own and others regarding paranormal experiences sounded genuine and won't over the top dramatised, which I really liked. I hope to go back again to go on more of the tours. Highly recommend, even for a daytime history tour, if ghost tours aren't your thing.

The Asylum of Beechworth for the seekers can find this along Albert Rd up on Mayhills...

The asylum was first opened in 1867, and it was one of the larger psychiatric hospitals that once serviced the state of Victoria

At its peak time in the later part of the 1800s, it had over 1,200 patients, with some being locked up for no real reason at all! There were to be 500 staff members as well around the time...

Common forms of treatment included the use of restraints, such as shackles and straitjackets, as well as isolation boxes and electroconvulsive therapy, while teeth were pulled as punishment to those who self-harmed!...

Following the royal commission into psychiatric care, the hospital was shut down in 1998 after running for 128 years.

We had taken the ghost tour thanks to a friend,
The tour started at 8:30 pm, and we enjoyed the tour with some great information from the tour guide as we wandered some of the buildings and dark hallways.

We had a great evening at the asylum, we were lucky with a pleasant evening that wasn’t too cold and no clouds so while we could look at the stars on show while the guide gave spoke of the interesting history of the asylum. The tour itself was great fun and well worth the drive. Would recommend for those who enjoy this kind of stuff. Was great fun!
