UPDATE on below review - After sending a few messages, the cab driver showed up and returned the toll charge. I asked if my interpretation was correct and he just replied "if you think so".

DOUBLE Toll charge - Similar to the review below, was picked up at Sydney Airport after a long flight and driven home. The ride itself was good service the driver installed the car seat for my youngest child as per laws of that age, was happy to take my directions, was polite, turned on the AC when we requested and drove the cab well. Having arrived at my house the driver looked at the meter value then switched off the meter machine and engine then used his phone to add the tolls ($18) to the fare, this was then punched into the EFTPOS which added the usual 5% on top. I did ask does the meter now include the tolls, as noticed it did something on each beep, he said no it just beeps to "remind" him to add it afterwards. We then did the credit card usuals and he didn't offer me a receipt and said thanks bye.

Was a little odd but I was just glad to be home safely with my family and young kids. I didn't think anything of this till my wife asked the fare and I told her the events above. She then said she saw the meter jump each time we passed a toll point. After which I turned to google and found out that taxi meters now include the tolls since 2022! So he made a nice little extra $18 off me.

Anyway I guess with cost of living pressures, just be sure to know how things work as it seems expecting honesty is out now and you will be taken advantage. If it doesn't smell right please check and just know what you should be getting. Being happy to be back home in Oz I let my guard down which was my mistake.

Funnily after not getting ripped off whilst travelling for a month over SE Asia on tuktuks, grabs(Asia's UBER) and taxis, got done back in Australia.

Have included the picture below if you happen to have the same driver/cab just keep the above in mind. Im having a bit of back and forth with the company now, as I have multiple angle footage of the cab with company signage, make and model but not the taxi number. Will report back how I go.

I took a cab today for the first time in a long time on a Wednesday evening and I used Apex cabs because they were waiting at the taxi rank. The cab took the M4 from Darling harbour to northmead and the bill came to $155.00 for a 26km trip and I was picked up at approximately 10:30pm. The meter was not visible at any time and I compared a fair once home and it was $70 for uber I then compared darling harbour to Gosford and it came up at $155 by Uber. I called the company immediately to report and we will see if they can give me a reasonable justification.

Picked up APEX cab at airport. The meter was showing $7.90 already as I got in. By the time I got home, the driver asked for a $108 fare for a 20km trip that normally costs $68 and even allowing for NSW post-10pm fares should have been much cheaper. Got taken for a ride and will report to taxi authority. AVOID.

I charged 97 dollars from Sydney Airport to Fullerton Hotel. I was overcharged even though it was lunchtime, but I don't think the customer center WhatsApp is responding and the mail is not running.Fifty dollars is enough for Uber, but there's no reason to take a taxi for double the price.
