The Anchorage is no five star Hilton so let’s be up front about that, but they don’t purport to be that; but what they do offer is good clean, comfortable accommodation without the frills. We stayed in their cottage for 5 nights. The air conditioners were on upon arrival and worked a treat, the bed was comfortable with nice pillows, the kitchen is well equipped with a good size fridge. Laundry facilities are free and there are plenty to go round. Without a vehicle it’s a bit of a hike to town and there are plenty of workmen around so don’t expect a holiday environment; just perfect fishing shack accommodation. Thx Gee and Stretch.

I flew all the way up from germany to weipa for a work trip. Therefore my budget was really limited and i had to look for a affordable place to stay for a couple of weeks.||||The idea of a workers accommodation didnt really excite me much. But on my arrival i was really surprised. Not only are the hosts Crazy and Robbie lovely people who provide you with a welcome beer and serve you some warm words and a joke or two :)||They have also taken good care of me and my needs as a woman (seeking for more protection being the only woman staying at that time). The anchorage provides a special toilet block for the ladies as well as seperate female showers. ||||The area around the resort is really quiet which makes it easy to find sleep as a shift worker. ||||Every block ha its own kitchen, lounge room and toilet area.||||The rooms are pretty much what you expect them to be. Comfortable beds,air-conditioned, with a tv and enough storage to store your precious belongings!||||I also enjoyed the pool table and the pretty big pool. It was really nice to sit at the bar looking onto the pool enjoying my knock off beer. ||||At the end of the day the Anchorage itself is what it is, a accommodation for workers. It is comfortable and well looked after. it isnt a hotel or resort so no need to expect the impossible you may think but wait until you met the hosts. Pete and Robbie can easily compete with their warm hearted souls and their special service against any four star hotel i have stayed at so far!!!||||Crazy and Robbie thank you so much for making me feel at home, so far away from home <3

Well this was a surprise. Listed as budget accomodation mainly catering for workman and women, it has a 2 bedroom cottage that has all that is needed to rest and recuperate after completing the Old Telegraph Track in a tent. Clean and all kitchen and linen supplied. The hosts were very helpful and always available to answer any queries. We would definitely return here. It has an air conditioner in the 2 bedrooms and another in the living /kitchen area. Above ground pool and gardens. Highly recommended. It was $160.00 per night and we felt worth every cent. My dad and I stay here for 6 nights in the cottage. The Place was clean and the staff were fantastic, stretch & Gee are a delightful couple and certainly made our stay a breeze. They where so helpful and easy going, I'm very grateful for the hospitality they gave me and my dad,I would have no hesitation in recommending the Anchorage as a place to stay. A nice spot to stay.

Have stayed here on numerous occasions over the last couple yrs and have to say its like coming home everytime. Its comfortable relaxing and run by a couple who are there to help with what ever u need. Would recommend The Anchorage to everyone from staying there by urself or in our case with a working crew of 7. Thanks for the hospitality guys hopefully be back soon

An older place that’s looked after well and items replaced as they break a shared kitchen is something I’ve not used before utensils are sufficient and cooking equipment is suitable. I’d stay here again

Had to stay here for a week for work and was very dubious about a 2 star. Yes it is donga accommodation, yes it is a little out of town but the service and availability is unequalled. Would stay here again. Not with the family but for work, no hesitation
