We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Oasis in the City. The loft apartment is spacious, homey with everything you could need. The location is perfect - a couple of minutes to the water and a few minutes to the main shopping strip. We didn’t need the car once from the moment we arrived. Great to be able to bring your dog. She had a fantastic time and Balmain must be one of Australia’s most dog-friendly neighbourhoods.
Neil and Lis went out of their way to provide everything we needed including makings for a yummy breakfast. I can’t recommend highly enough!

This place is amazingly quiet and peaceful, very comfy, amazing location. Close to shops, cafes pubs in heart of Balmain. Quick walk to bus stops that take you to CBD. About 7 min walk to Ferry to take you to Circular Quay. If you are lucky you will get a visit to your room from Poppy the dog. Great views of the water. Fantastic breakfast supplies as well. You will not be disappointed.

It is our pleasure to describe our stay at "An Oasis in The City" as 5 star. Since our return home we have been telling all of our friends how great our time in Balmain was. The hosts Liz and Neil are very friendly, generous and welcoming. The accommodation is a beautiful open plan space reminiscent of a swiss chalet, with beautiful cathedral ceilings and stunning wood detailing, creating a warm and inviting space in which to relax and enjoy. From the accommodation and especially from the balcony there are the most amazing views of the CBD in the east and North Sydney to the north. I enjoyed wonderful walks with my husband and our little dog Patchy as we were only a 1 minute walk to the harbour and foreshore parks. Not only is Liz and Neil's Oasis a great stay, but its proximity to all of the cafes, restaurants and shops make it perfectly located for so many reasons. It is a very dog and people friendly safe neighbourhood. Even though it is in walking distance to all of the above, the stay is just far enough away from the main areas to make it quiet and private. We had reserved off street parking immediately adjacent to our stay. The fridge contained Liz's home made breakfast items including yoghurt and compote, which were superb.Highly recommend this stay and we will definitely be returning next time we are in Sydney.

Forget impersonal hotels, the noisy streets of the CBD and crowded apartment blocks. This is the perfect choice for a superbly located, inner city BNB hosted by Neil, Elisabeth and Poppi the dog. The loft space is ultra cool, comfortable and welcoming. The breakfast was delightful. Oasis exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend to anyone and we will certainly book again.

We had a wonderful 9 day stay here. Very nice updated apartment with plenty of space, comfortable beds, and balcony porch with view of the harbor. Location is quite for a great nights sleep and in a very safe neighborhood. Wonderful breakfast to start the day. Close proximity to walk to Balmain main street for coffee, lunch and shopping. Easy access to ferries for travel to downtown Sydney and several beaches. Our host Elisabeth and Neil were always gracious host, very accommodating and made us feel like we were family. Highly recommended !!!

My husband and I, along with our 7-month-old golden retriever, stayed at Neil and Liz’s place for 5 nights. From the moment we arrived after a fairly stressful drive into Sydney (caught out by end-of-public holiday traffic), we were treated like family. The loft retreat is spacious and dog-friendly, with its own private deck with views to the harbour. We were a short stroll to the waterfront with many on- and off-leash areas, and to the village of Balmain which is incredibly welcoming to four-legged guests. The loft is equipped with a bar fridge well stocked with breakfast goodies, as well as a cupboard with tea and coffee-making equipment and a toaster. Neil and Liz made plenty of helpful recommendations of places to go with and without our dog. And having an off-street car park was an absolute bonus. We would not hesitate to stay again.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this fantastic accommodation! My sister and I stayed here several days before I went back to the states, and Neil and Elizabeth were delightful hosts who have thought of everything a traveler could possibly want. They were very helpful in giving suggestions about the local area, and we enjoyed Neil's photography. From sitting out on the deck with a glass of wine, looking at the water, to enjoying the fresh bread that Elizabeth brought us, with some jam from the well-stocked fridge, we enjoyed our stay in this spacious, light-filled spot. It is truly an oasis in Balmain.

We stayed for three nights, including New Years Eve 2019, with our Westie Holly. We thoroughly enjoyed the room, which had everything we needed, as well as the deck, garden and the amazing outlook to the water and surrounding Balmain. Our hosts were great and had provided many personal touches! The Balmain village atmosphere was very welcoming to us and our dog and we enjoyed the coffee shops, restaurants and pubs that we sampled. Plenty of great walking around parks and water areas and close to ferries. We will want to visit again.
