The ARA guides went above and beyond. They took their safety responsibilities extremely seriously, and kindly adapted the pace of the trip to the limited experience of our group. Chief guide Richard Swain shared his knowledge of the country with us and opened our eyes to its Indigenous history. It was a privilege to see the Byadbo Wilderness with its many birds and forested ridges that look so different to other parts of Australia.

The scenery and kayaking lived up to expectations. Richard and Swirley really looked after us well, with good food and good coaching. However for me the thing that changed me most was Richard's willingness to share his knowledge of country and the impact of introduced animals. He was well versed in the scientific studies and history and was able to show in simple practical terms how much this part of the world has changed over the last 200 years.

The trip far exceeded our expectations of canoeing the River. Our guides were very practical and knowledgeable in showing us the ways of the river. The fresh food and their cooking throughout the 5 days was excellent. Richard, Swirley, Alison and Hayley are an amazing Team.
