Fantastic river cruise with Captain Jack. His commentary through the 4 hour journey up the Kalgan River was so interesting. Plus the on board treats, oysters, honey, strawberries, home made damper plus tea and coffee added to the whole wonderful experience. The river itself was abundant with wildlife including seals, sea eagles, osprey, and of course loads of pelicans.
Don't miss out on this truely fabulous experience!

Very calm and interesting tour. I got told lots of facts that I didn't know and surprised me. Saw an old shipwreck and got excellent tasting oysters, damper, strawberries and honey. We also got treated to some tea and coffee. There were lots of cool birds and I got some awesome photos and videos. Jack was very welcoming, and was extremely kind. I would recommend booking a tour as it is loads of fun.

Jack does a great job with this family business. He is friendly, professional and entertaining in the tour. You will get to experience the natural beauty of the area, the animals and interesting local history. Snacks and food tasting he did along the way added to the experience, as did the fish he fed to pelicans, osprey and eagles!

The Kalgan Queen River Cruise is a must-do in Albany, run by Captain Jack, who’s been sharing the river’s magic for 17 years as part of his family business. Jack’s humour and storytelling bring the Kalgan River to life, with highlights like the fascinating tale of Elbow(Honeymoon) Island.

The cruise offers plenty of wildlife, including pelicans and osprey feeding. Jack’s knowledge of the area’s history, from Indigenous heritage to modern days, adds depth to the journey.

*love the tasting of honey, strawberry and freshly-shucked Albany rock oysters. I will never forget that yummy-13-ingredients-damper!

I Reay enjoyed the commentary.. the skipper is funny and very knowledgeable.. it was a bit long.. 3 or 3.5 hours would have worked well. The length of the cruise means I probably wouldn't do it a 2nd time. I highly recommend doing at least once.

A lovely and peaceful morning out on the water with Jack. He's very knowledgeable about the local history and the wildlife. Highly recommend, it is family friendly, plus the tea and damper is a nice treat halfway

You can’t choose the weather here in Albany, but you can certainly choose what to do. I definitely recommend the river cruise on the Kalgan Queen. 4hrs with Capt. Jack and his stories just isn’t enough in my opinion. I believe him when he states there are so many more to share. If you take your sense of humour with you this trip is unforgettable.
The stunning scenery around Emu Point, Oyster Harbour and the Kalgan River speaks for itself. The historic stories an added bonus of the lives before us. Mix in a wonderful collection of birdlife and their interactions ticks another box. We were very fortunate to spot a small pod of dolphins.
This was not a whale spotting cruise. Not the season and they don’t go into Oyster Harbour. Please be aware of this and appreciate the beauty in a river cruise.
Morning tea or coffee is provided whilst the boat is stopped. Mum’s warm damper is something deliciously special. Don’t miss out on an Albany Rock Oyster tasting - the best I’ve ever had. For something sweet local strawberries and honey from the family hives.
Whether local or visiting I truly believe you won’t be disappointed.

PS Yes there is a toilet on board
And don’t forget a jumper or jacket just in case.

A wonderful experience! You have a lot of everything: Animals, fun, good food and drinks, poems and knowledge. Jack made this cruise with his unique personality to a fun and entertaining learning session. All of us were listening really carefully to everything he said because no one wanted to miss a part. This cruise and the gentle hug of a pelican made my sister's birthday really special. Great thanks to Jack for that!
