We had a fabulous trip, first on a private tour of Tokyo and then visiting the Summer Festivals. Craig was a knowledgeable guide, giving us a real insider view of life in Japan. There is so much to see and do! The tour included a lot of variety - from the busy scramble crossing to quiet temples and shrines. And the festivals were amazing! Each one was so different. It was truly a trip of a lifetime!

My wife Leanne and I signed up for the 'Classic Japan Tour' in May 2019. We had been very independant holiday-makers prior to this as our preference is to avoid big tour groups. A&C tours fitted our style as they offer a small/intimate tour while being able to facilitate the nuances of navigating a foriegn country where the language barrier may have presented problems for us. Our Australian born tour host, Craig, speaks fluent Japanese and was many things to us on the tour - entertaining, informative, responsive and a bit of a larrikin to boot. 🙂 Having said that he was a very responsible guide on our trip and met every agenda that the tour promised. Craig took the 'stress' out of the logistics of the trip which allowed us to really enjoy our holiday time in Japan. We enjoyed our first trip with Craig so much that the intention is to travel with A&C tours again in the very near future on one of the many options that they offer. If you're wanting a small group, personalised tour into Japan without the stress of finding your own way, then A&C tours is highly recommended.

In November/December 2022 we booked a Shades of Autumn trip to Japan with A&C Tours. Our itinerary began in Osaka and included time in Himeji, Hiroshima, Takamatsu, Kobe, Kyoto, Hakone and Tokyo. We travelled chiefly by the wonderfully efficient Japanese train network including the shinkansen for longer journeys. We visited shrines and beautiful gardens where the maple leaves had started to fall. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was a highlight and not to be missed. This was a fantastic tour with superb walks in the autumn sunshine and a genuine taste of Japanese landscape and culture. The welcome & farewell dinners were excellent book ends and we were happy to be left to our own devices for dinner on other evenings - which provided a further opportunity to explore. At all times we found the Japanese people, helpful, welcoming and unfailingly polite.

We cannot recommend Craig Campbell highly enough! Craig was organised, well-prepared, punctual and a nice chap (with a good sense of humour!). Speaking Japanese fluently, Craig guided us without fuss at all times. We can thoroughly recommend A&C Tours and Craig Campbell without hesitation.

Spring Sakura Tour 2024

This was our first time to Japan and what a fantastic introduction Craig gave us to this wonderful country.

The Spring Sakura Tour exceeded our expectations in all ways. Everyday as we travelled north was like a new adventure and guaranteed more magnificent displays of perfect cherry blossom trees, often beside pristine rivers or surrounding century old forts. No photos did justice to this idyllic scenery.

We explored beautiful old traditional villages, walked through stunning temples and shrines, rested our bodies in private Onsen’s, ate plenty of amazing food, rode the Shinkansen at 317km/h and witnessed the finest cherry blossom festivals in Japan.

Craig is an excellent tour guide and ensured we all had the best time. He is kind, thoughtful, very well organised and has a great sense of humour. His extensive knowledge of Japan is impressive and him being able to read and speak Japanese fluently had so many advantages.

Our accommodation was always clean and comfortable. There was never a shortage of good restaurants within walking distance from the hotels, the biggest problem was deciding at night which one to eat at.

Apart from the splendid cherry blossoms we really enjoyed the welcoming and considerate Japanese people. Their culture and safe and clean country is something to be admired.

Thanks again Craig for a bloody good tour, we can’t wait to do another one with you!

From the moment Craig met us at Kansai International airport until we departed from Hakodate my friend and I had a magical trip in Japan. Craig's planning was meticulous . . . we saw so much and yet it was not a rushed pace. So many highlights- cherry blossoms in bloom, ancient Kyoto, Geisha, shrines, markets, stay at a traditional inn (ryokan), Takayama festival, Mt. Fuji, castle towns, bullet trains . . . Craig's knowledge of Japan and his language fluency made this a never to be forgotten trip.
