Planning our wedding at a historic “start-from-scratch” venue could have been daunting, but Kara made it a breeze. Her meticulous organization ensured we never felt overwhelmed; her to-do lists, regular check-in emails, and phone calls kept us on track. Perhaps what stood out the most to us, is how responsive she was - she always made us feel like we were her only priority, which shows how well she manages and treats each of her clients.

Kara organized vendors seamlessly (many who were recommended by her - all amazing!), ensuring everyone was on the same page. She went above and beyond to make us feel supported throughout the entire process - she listened without judgement when I needed to vent, guided us in decision making when we felt stuck, and guiding us in decision-making when we felt stuck. On the day of the wedding, we felt completely at ease, knowing we were in capable hands - we truly were so relaxed all day, and didn't need to lift a finger. We were forecasted to get inches of rain - despite this, I was so calm headed into the week knowing that we'd have Kara to help us make it a beautiful day despite the weather. Fortunately, the weather was perfect - and I loved knowing that whatever we needed, we could rely on Kara.

Where do we even begin… Kara is nothing short of exceptional. From our initial discovery call with her, through the entire planning process, and most importantly on the biggest day of our lives, Kara went above and beyond in all that she did. It’s hard to put into words just how instrumental Kara was start to finish. From providing us with incredibly helpful “to-do” lists to keep us organized and ahead of schedule, to coordinating directly with our vendor team and fielding their questions, to accompanying us on vendor meetings and helping navigate important decision making, to all of the prep in the weeks leading up to the big day, to frequent check-ins to make sure we were staying sane and enjoying the process, and ultimately for ensuring our day was the happiest one of our lives. We have Kara to thank for that and so much more. I’ll admit, as a type-A perfectionist, I was originally reluctant to hire anyone to help us with the planning and design, but I learned very quickly that we were in incredible hands and her services were well worth the investment. Kara was everything I didn’t realize I needed and we are beyond thankful for not only her diligent attention to detail, unmatched organization, and professionalism, but for here sincere love for what she does and the couples she works. If I could give anyone one piece of advice for their wedding, it would be to hire Kara Patten. Every single detail of our wedding was better than we imagined and it was all because of her. Kara is a master at what she does – professional, knowledgeable, talented, and incredibly organized. Even after our first meeting, it was evident how much she cares about her couples and how much effort she puts into making their day perfect. On top of all that, she is such a kind and genuine person. We are so lucky to call her a friend!

The wedding planning process can seem so overwhelming, but Kara makes it truly enjoyable and easy. One of the things we are most grateful for is how present we were on wedding day because Kara had everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) handled. She was right there by our side making sure every moment was perfect. We enjoyed every second of working with Kara and would recommend her over and over again!

i don’t even know where to start! and have honestly been putting off writing this review for months because it feels impossible to put into words just how incredible kara is…as a wedding planner, a confidant, a support system, a dear friend. we truly couldn’t have imagined better, and are so beyond grateful to have worked with her!

in initially interviewing wedding planners, we found lots of folks with more rigid structures & systems in place (i.e. you get 3 calls over the first X number of months, etc.) - which we totally get! but one of the things that drew us to kara right away was how engaged, available, and invested she is from start to finish. the way she takes you under her wing right away, and is truly *with* you throughout the entire planning process. it was honestly incredible how much she made us feel like her only clients - her absolute priority. (i don’t know how she does it!) we were planning our wedding from afar, and kara repeatedly blew us away with her willingness to roll up her sleeves & dive right in with us: to go pick up chairs and take photos of them next to tablescapes, to drive to venues to walk around and give us her two cents, to have meetings with vendors on our behalf, to coordinate & pick up floral mock-ups, napkins, etc. etc.

we were also struck by how personable she immediately was. while of course it is also a professional relationship (and kara is soo professional), she really takes the time to get to know you deeply. to understand what’s important to you, to develop an emotional connection. there were countless times throughout the wedding planning process when kara showed up for us as our defender, our advocate, our emotional support, our sounding board. wedding planning & weddings can bring up a lot - there are a lot of relational dynamics & expectations & big feelings, and it was truly invaluable to have her in our corner. we developed such a sweet friendship with kara - one where we so looked forward to contact with her, and one that we know will extend beyond the wedding planning process and the wedding planner-client relationship.

and this all doesn’t even begin to cover kara’s absolute mastery of wedding planning! she is so organized, meticulous, and decisive. she has incredible expertise - thinking through every single detail of our days-long weeding weekend (things we would’ve never considered, even as incredibly organized, type A people!). she recommended so many amazing vendors to us. she seamlessly & eagerly helped us to execute our many wild & difficult-to-achieve ideas (ex. potential groom arrival by boat; a dramatic, WWE-style entrance into our reception tent with a fog machine & money guns; a piñata for a cake; etc.) where other planners may have instead shied away. and, she handled the inevitable stresses of the day like an absolute CHAMP - never letting on when things were going awry, troubleshooting flawlessly, and allowing us and all of our family & friends to kick back & just enjoy ourselves, knowing that everything was taken care of.

as i come to the end of writing this review, i’m honestly feeling emotional. i think perhaps another reason i’ve been putting it off is because writing it highlights the finality of our work with kara in this capacity. and i feel so much sadness in that! in not talking to kara most days, as we have for over a year. and i know we’re not the only ones who feel that way. it’s no coincidence that there are so many common themes & refrains in all of her reviews - she truly is one of a kind, and such an incredibly special person. i saw someone wrote “to know kara is to love her”, and that really couldn’t feel more true. 1000/10 recommend kara to any & everyone! she is the BEST & a dear friend for life now.

(i’ve attached some photos of kara on our wedding day. they make me emotional, and are such sweet snapshots of the infinite ways we felt deeply supported by her on our most special day - hauling flower arrangements, getting us food, fixing boutonnieres, tying blindfolds, etc. kara, we love you! and are endlessly grateful for you.)

To simply say Kara is amazing, would be an absolute understatement! She helped us every step of the way and made our wedding the best day of our lives. She supported all of our needs and was able to pivot with us whenever we made any changes. She was very on top of everything, ensuring that all vendors were on time and performing their duties as contracted. She even went above and beyond to make sure every small detail was done to perfection (as you can see from the photos). My husband and I had ZERO stress on our day all thanks to Kara. Our wedding was better than we ever could’ve imagined. I would most highly recommend Kara, she is the best wedding planner around!!

Where do I even start? There were many moments of our wedding that made me cry but standing up in front of our guests telling them how sad I was to not be able to talk to Kara on a weekly (more likely daily basis) was so special.

Kara was truly the unsung hero of our entire wedding weekend (and for months leading up to the wedding). She helped to bring a non-traditional wedding venue to life - this included everything from power logistics to vehicle rentals that could handle steep hills in the mud to changing the entire layout of the reception days before our wedding.

I could not have asked for a better partner, confidant, creative director, logistical wizard and just generally an all around fantastic person to plan a wedding with. Kara is the perfect person for you if you're looking for a down to earth, supportive, detail oriented, organized, caring, compassionate... the adjectives are unending here, person to have by your side on your wedding day.
