👍 Reviews of Globe Hotel Deniliquin

Less than average service, staff where dismissive and more interested in talking to each other while serving us while we waited to patiently to pay.

Food reminded me off what you'd throw together when you forgot to go shopping so you go through the cupboards and freezer.

Only reason I didn't rate it one star is the pricing was very reasonable.

Wonderful service and atmosphere with cheerful locals.
The food however, for the price (not cheap) was very disappointing "300" gram rump steak was lucky to be 150g and was seriously overcooked to well done when we ordered medium rare. Lamb cutlets were nice but once again very overcooked. An average pub meal at best and for the price, expected a lot better.
These are simple mistakes that can easily be overcome for a superb experience.

Great older-style pub. We came in on a weekday for drinks and lunch. A good bunch of locals dining in bar area and in bistro side.

Sat at the bar, for a drink and decided to get some lunch - all the food coming out looked and smelled yum.

NSW beers on tap, not ideal, but we leaned into it. We came on a Wednesday and there was a schnitzel special ~$19, and they all looked good, but we ordered other things. Most of the other people ordered the schnitty by the looks of it…

Great calamari (entrée) and good size for me, nicely cooked, tender and some crunch from the crispy shallots. Good aioli sauce underneath and snow pea tendrils 👌🏻

My partner had a beef burger, with chips and gravy. He was happy with it: the burger patty was juicy and the chippies were crunchy and well seasoned.

Great service, efficient and the lady behind the bar knew her locals (and our drinks) without having to verbally order the second round, it just happened with a smile and a nod.

Definitely recommend!

Used to have a awesome lunch special steak sandwich. Been recently and its nothing like it was.

I had to change to 1 star with this 32$ 300g medium rump with vegetables.
It resembled a dog biscuit

The best pepperoni pizza I've had in a long, long time! Plenty of people there on a Tuesday night including many locals, which is always an indicator of a good pub.

Well done!

Came here for dinner after work, didn’t feel very welcome, staff weren’t that friendly. Food was decent, the atmosphere was good!

After reading several reviews, we decided to experience some classic country pub dining at the Globe Hotel in Deniliquin. Unfortunately, what began as a hopeful outing quickly turned into a disappointing experience that left much to be desired.

Upon arrival, we were met with a noticeable lack of customer service. Rather than being warmly welcomed, we were vaguely directed to our table “around the corner” with little guidance. From there, things continued on a downward spiral.

The absence of uniforms among staff (one hostess actually sporting a very appropriate Playboy jumper) contributed to a sense of disorganisation, and we couldn't help but question whether proper RSA or food handling certifications were in place. Service lacked attentiveness and professionalism throughout the evening.

The layout of the venue was also confusing, with no clear signage pointing patrons to the restrooms — a situation that could easily lead someone to mistakenly walk into the kitchen. This basic oversight added to the overall sense of mismanagement.

When it came to the meal itself, the high-end scotch fillet was a major letdown. Though it had decent flavour, it was riddled with gristle and fat. The wilted greens that accompanied my co-diners the dish were visually unappealing and should never have left the kitchen. The highlight, if any, was the mashed potato — creamy and well-prepared.

We asked one of the hosts for water and were told to get it ourselves from the front counter, even though the bar was busy. At a venue of this size, it wouldn’t have taken much to bring a bottle to the table, and this small gesture would have made a big difference.

After dinner, we inquired about dessert and were told by multiple staff members that it would be arranged. We waited a staggering 45 minutes before a somewhat average cheesecake finally appeared at our table. By then, any enthusiasm we had for the meal had completely worn off.

In short, the Globe Hotel may have once been a charming country pub, but our experience suggests it’s in serious need of staff retraining, improved customer service, and a revamp of both its menu and management. Sadly, we cannot recommend dining here — unless perhaps Gordon Ramsay decides to feature it on Kitchen Nightmares.
