We found Gold Creek after our evening flight was cancelled and there were zero hotel rooms in Canberra due to the British Lions game. The amazing receptionist (more later) answered the phone at 9pm, and found two rooms for us. We finally got there about 30 minutes later, and she couldn't have been more helpful. Check in was super fast and easy, and she walked us to our rooms to make sure they were ready. They were. |Yes, the place is not new. But honestly, I couldn't care less about the age of a place if it's clean - and this place is spotless. And I mean spotless. The beds (there were 3 of them in my room) were military-neatly made, and the bedding was pure white and immaculate. The bathroom was so clean too. And I'm critical. |The hot water was instant, and the water pressure was perfect (better than my home, actually). I couldn't have been happier, after a long and horrible day. |The aircon warmed my room nicely while I was in the shower. The towels are sheets, not small cheap towels, and they had that lovely very very faint smell of bleach that good hotel towels have. Fluffy and drying. |The queen bed i chose to sleep in was perfect; not too hard but not soft either, and the pillows were fluffy. Again, the bedding was immaculate. I did use both blankets out of the wardrobe (I turned the heating off), and the doona/duvet was fluffy and perfect as well. I slept like a log. Woke up at 5am, then fell back asleep again. |There is a kettle (Russell Hobbs no less and a big size). |They have proper coffee mugs too, not just those little hotel cups. |I could not fault this hotel - it was immaculately clean, service was just so perfect and friendly and efficient, and the location was great too - I'd never even heard of Gold Creek before but am now definitely going back - the reptile park interests me and there was a dinosaur museum along the highway a bit. |I think the bad reviews are from kids mostly. |Not saying people didn't have the odd bad experience, but no one gets a room as clean as mine was without that being their standard practice. You could see that that's just how they do their rooms. |Thank you Gold Creek - I will definitely be back.

We would like to thank Steve, Jayne and all the staff in helping to make our sons' combined party a wonderful event. You made us feel like friends, not just paying guests. The function rooms meet our needs perfectly. As a bonus we stayed the night and while the rooms are not high end, they are clean and comfortable.

Amazing location for my bride last Saturday to get ready,
Staff were great and friendly and helped all guests with their needs. Loved how great they were to the teachers with the children... Nothing was too hard. Go team.
Highly recommend to all my brides that need a venue to get ready.

There were spiders in the corner of my bed and cockroach’s everywhere. Do not go here for the cheap price, as it just isn’t worth it. The one thing I will give thumbs up is the dining hall food.

Fantastic!
I am a tour coach driver and have stayed in many places of accommodation and can say that gold creek is the best whilst in Canberra.
Steve and his wife are so friendly and helpful. The rooms were great. And food was excellent.
The students, teachers and myself had a great experience.
they are in the process of updating their rooms so can't wait for a great place to be even better. AAA+

Note: This is my experience from a a school camp excursion.
Room: The bed sheetswere clean, but in my opinion, they were slightly moist. The bed was mildly uncomfortable, and was uneven with lumps. The bathroom mouldy. The walls had areas of dirt and mould, especially present around windowsills. There was a fridge, which was appreciated.

Food: The food was alright. For dinner, they had multiple options- Lasagne, with was decent, chicken nuggets, good, and salad, which looked alright. There was cordial and jelly for desert. No one had gotten sick from the food.

Service: The kitchen/food staff were very friendly and patient!
