A green oasis in the middle of the city. Wonderful birds, spacious pitches and very friendly staff. Yes, the sanitary facilities are a bit old, but they are clean and the overnight stay is cheap. I would love to come back.

Completely run down place. Inside the cabin was acceptable despite all the photos of cabins with kitchens there wasn't a kitchen. Had to wash up dishes in the back packers communal kitchen.|The "Family" that is said to own this place needs to do some ongoing maintenance and gardening. |It is not a resort but merely for back packers and camping.|Most rooms and cabins don't seem to be available. Maybe lack of maintenance.|Could not find the cabins with decks out front that are displayed on their Web site.

This location was very convenient! We took a ten minute taxi from the airport and were able to walk to restaurants/ tours. Mike, in reception, went above and beyond to help me when the airline lost my luggage. He was more empathetic than the company responsible for getting it back to me. I really appreciate his kindness and helpful nature! The room was spacious and comfortable. The patio area was a lovely space to listen to the birds and glimpse the peacocks.

I arrived at 4pm to find the room in a shocking state. The double bed was terribly soft and paired with a cheap, almost unusable pillow. There was no air conditioning, just a noisy ceiling fan that sounded like a helicopter, and only one chair. The room lacked a TV, fridge, and even basic amenities like tea or coffee. I requested a different room or an upgrade, but none were available. Without a car, I couldn’t look for alternative accommodation. It was one of the most difficult experiences I’ve had.

Location is ideal for the marina if you are doing excursions to K’gari island or whale watching. We had a double room, which was a double bunk bed with the mattress taken off the top bunk. Bed was pretty comfy and room basic but comfortable and close to the kitchen. Kitchen is well equipped, but small. Would be hard to cook if a few people were in there.
Reception run very limited hours, we didn’t meet any staff during our stay. When we arrived we had asked for help 3 times to get from the greyhound bus to the hotel, and were ignored 3 times. They also don’t offer any luggage storage outside of operating hours which was unhelpful as a lot of people stay here for the excursions. Overall stay was good, but customer service could be improved.

Can't really talk about the rooms as I was camping on an unpowered site.
The location is near to the beach and many tourist destinations such as the beach, botanical gardens as well as the aquarium with all being in walking distance.
The service here is very good and the food are well priced and nice.
One slight annoyance though on an unpowered site is that there are many noise makers around night as the cane toads begin making sound along with the many birds that occupy the area.

Stunning setting for a place tucked in the burbs, beautiful peacocks 🦚 wondering around. Budget rooms are simple and affordable. Staff very friendly

Calling this place a YHA is a stretch - we are young backpackers and have stayed at multiple other YHAs across the east coast - with positive experiences at all BUT this one. Do NOT recommend if you are under 60. There is no staff anywhere to be found and reception is consistently closed despite arriving within reception opening hours. Felt like a horror movie how empty and deserted the place was. Hervey bay is quiet in itself with not much to do! Don’t waste your money and time staying in Hervey bay or at this accommodation. NO wifi in the rooms and service is spotty.
