The most unique experience that any whale charter has to offer on the Gold coast. Darryl is a friendly and entertaining skipper. If your after a slow and entertaining day out with a 100% whale sighting, Getaway Sailing is truly worth the money. I can't fault it. My partner myself and two friends spent the day with Darryl on his beautiful boat, we sighted around 10 whales up really close (June start of whale season). Simply amazing creatures. The weather was amazing this day with spectacular views of the gold coast, and stradbroke islands. Darryl is respectful of the whales space and let's them explore us instead of driving over the top of the animals, like most boats we witnessed yesterday. We want to book another day out soon.

What an amazing day! From my initial online enquiry that was answered with a prompt and helpful response (thanks Donna) through to what was a gorgeous and intimate experience with the whales, the team at getaway sailing are more than deserving of 5 stars.

Marty, our skipper, was so friendly and you can tell he is passionate about the ocean and the whales. Very experienced at sea, we were in the best hands for our private sail. We really got to see the whales in their element in a one on one setting. No crowds, just my hubby and I at the front of the sail boat with glassy water and the whales. EPIC. Thanks for having us guys!

My husband and I and a few friends did whale watching with Getaway Sailing on the Gold Coast in late August 2012. If you really want to have a personal and unique encounter with the whales I recommend that you do whale watching with Getaway Sailing on the Gold Coast. The ship captain, Darryl, amazed us with his hospitality on the boat. Every request was attended to with a smile and professional attitude. Darryl even put together a great video for us to capture our whale watching experience. We saw the whales up close as they approached the boat, listened to their singing by using the hydrophone and spent the rest of the time on the boat relaxing in the sun. Thank you for a great day! We will definitely be back.

I went whale watching with a group of friends yesterday - WOW!! What a day - perfect weather, perfect skipper - even the whales made an "effort"! The boat was immaculate, Darryl is extremely knowledgeable with everything, from how to spot whales, their migration pattern, sailing and so on. Sailing has its own magic - and we could not have asked for a better sail/whale outing than what we got. Highly recommended!!

Millions of thousands thanks to Daryl and Bettina who help organised my proposal cruise. It's awesome! The water was a bit rough on the day, but the whole experience on the yacht was excellent and amazing. My fiance (now my wife) is very satisfied. Thanks Daryl and Bettina (we have got both of you in our wedding photo slide shows), the taste of riding a yacht, pulling the sails, spotting and chasing the whales, dolphins, a warm meal on a yacht, the champagne along with the romantic sunset and all the photo taking was a life time experience for us.
