Coffs Shearwater Motel - Coffs Harbour, New South Wales

Last night we stayed at your motel in room 12, the two bedroom apartment, and we thought we should provide you with some feedback about our stay.||We arrived around 11pm and upon entering the room via the front sliding door it was incredibly difficult to locate any light switches.||After this we noticed a stale and or moldy smell. Certainly not a fresh or clean smell, that would be expected.||As you would hopefully be aware the lounge is falling apart. The vinyl is all flaking away and the underneath is starting show. We didn't even want to sit on it due to its poor state.||The carpet near the hall entrance is coming apart and showing the underlay. ||The sliding door to the bathroom needs the rollers fixing or replaced and created significant noise when moving it.||Inside the bathroom is a concern. There is a distinct smell or sewerage, which we can only put down to the toilet base was not fixed to the floor properly. The smell was foul. ||This smell was only matched by the mold or mold stains in the grout in the shower, with the shower base showing significant signs of wear. The bathroom conditions say a lot about the accommodation standard.||The curtain rods where showing signs of bending, with the curtains not doing much to keep the light out. Particular the curtains in the main bedroom.||The ceiling fans were dirty and have a reasonable amount of dirt/dust gathered on the blades. The AC unit in the main living area was discoloured and didn't appear to work properly and doesn't shut down properly.||There is paint lifting on the ceiling and signs of water damage.||We stay is a variety of motel during our travels and have stayed at your premises a number of times previously. This stay is without doubt our most disappointing and to be honest, if it had not been so late and we had not paid we would have moved to a different motel.||The condition of this part of your facility was well below our previous experiences and certainly below our expectations, particularly when being charged over $200. Your guests deserve better on our opinion.||The above was sent to the premises who didn't even acknowledge the emails until I followed it up. They responded saying the manager was away for 2 weeks and the relief manage didn't have authority to fix the issues. ||There are plenty other motels in Coffs that can offer you better conditions than this one.

The motel is conveniently situated just on the outskirts of town, offering easy access while maintaining a quiet setting. However, the condition of the furniture in the room was extremely disappointing. Several pieces were broken, torn, and clearly neglected—far below acceptable standards for guest accommodation.

What an appalling motel. We booked a queen executive but for or some reason we were booked into unit 11, a room for the disabled. A grey painted box of a room with bigs gaps around the door, not what you want in winter! The disabled bathroom was big but not a shelf in sight for putting out your bathroom gear. The mattress was fine. I'm so surprized a room like this still exists in Australia...and at the price we paid, double what it's worth.

Clean and moderately spacious. QB was nice. The bathroom at the end was adequate. The room was showing its age with a crack down the wall. But it did for the night. It was 'value for money'.

We booked 2 rooms. No hot water in the evening and none in the morning. But surely there was someone to contact regarding the issue, right? No after-hours contact and no way to contact reception.....
But hey, the bathroom would have been nice to use, if I wanted a cold shower.

Come stay at the Shearwater, where our motto is: come, stay, stink.

Room 8: April $150.
Pros: Close to Beach. 🏖️ Beds comfortable. Supply kettle, plates, cups, utensils, and a dry dish-towel. (Coffee, sugar, tea) Netflix available, Sufficient towels and pillows available. Microwave good. Small beer fridge. Wifi good.
Front desk guy nice. We lost our key, cost $25, that’s ok, our fault. Showers good.

Cons: Bathroom sink is 10”x 5”. Cannot fill the kettle barely under the tap, or anything but wash your hands.. Maybe bring your own water and dish soap, if you dirty the dishes, where do you clean them and no dish-soap to clean them.
Loud, next to busy Hwy. Couldn’t sleep.

Not up to the price. The room I had was really in need of further updating - the bathroom has obviously been re-tiled recently, but things like the worn and stained fitted carpet (which didn't fit all the way to the edges) really need attention. |small things like a bottle of water and some ice in the fridge would be a simple and obvious thing to have for hot and tired guest arrivals. good things: microwavwe, kettle and toaster.

Friendly, happy, helpful staff. Close to restaurants and the city center. I would stay there again.
