My partner and I participated in a two-week tour called Java by Rail and it was excellent! The activities, experiences, hotels, food, transport and organisation all contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable journey and we're eager to explore more parts of Indonesia in future. Thank you to Railway Adventures for creating such a fun trip.

Had an amazing time travelling through Central West NSW by private train with Railway Adventures on a Christmas tour - a truly unforgettable experience! My highlights were Abercrombie House in Bathurst, the beautiful Mayfield Garden, a delicious dinner in Mudgee and the charming town of Gulgong.

Tasmania by road and rail.

Great tour let down by unsuitable tour transport.

1. Tour vehicle was a 12 seater Toyota hi-ace van. This is not suitable for long distance travel. The seats nearly killed us. Seriously painful.
2. Peppers Silos Launceston was an outstanding Hotel.
3. Launceston tours were all good. Winery lunch was great.
4. Novotel Devenport restaurant was dissapointing.
5. Lunch on the way to Strahan never happened. Nothing open. Should have been better planned.
6. Dinner in Strahan was not as described. Not a top Tasmanian seafood restaurant at all, just a very average buffet without any local fish. More to come as the tour continues.

Now in Hobart at end of tour. Has generally been great but completely let down by the cramped uncomfortable transport. This was a premium priced tour and you'd expect a small luxury coach, not a re-purposed shuttle van completely unsuitable for long distance travel. Would not have booked this tour if we'd known that. Won't make this mistake again.

RA's Himalayas trip completed last month was as amazing as we'd hoped!! Occasionally plans were changed quickly but always to our total satisfaction and delight - when plans were changed, we'd all say 'It's India' and move on to the next surprising option! Robert Kingsford-Smith and Anwar have only done the tour together once before but they are a well-oiled machine!! And the trains....well, you'll never see anything like them in Australia!! Totally unique - Little trains powering up those hills to Darjeeling and Shimla - which are both built as if sliding down the mountains. And the view of Kanchenjunga from our breakfast table - wow! And the Himalayas from another Hotel - but we managed to find time to try all the wonderful foods offered to us! Can't stop looking at our photos!!!
The day we left for our Himalayas trip (our 7th) we booked our 8th - Singapore to Siam!! See you all then guys, keep up the good work!

This was my first train trip with Railway Adventures. I couldn’t be happier with the level of service I received. Nothing was too much trouble for the attendants. I am a coeliac and the food I was provided with was excellent. Everyone went to great lengths to ensure my food was gluten-free. I would absolutely recommend this tour and Railway Adventures to anyone thinking of doing some train travel - Jenny, Woronora NSW

“If you love Elvis and you love heritage trains, this is the trip of a lifetime. From the moment we boarded the train, we had a great time. The train is parked really close to the festival, so you can come and go as you please. Having the lounge, sleeper and dining cars really takes you back in time and gives you ample opportunity to get to know your fellow Elvis fanatics, and the great team that takes care of you. Get on board!”. - Sally, Bondi Junction, NSW

Railway adventures offers the benefit of smaller groups with experienced guides, and fascinating places to visit. Their attention to the needs of their guests is one of the reasons they have so much repeat business.

The tours have a rail theme, but are not structured for railway fanatics; they are a blend of tours to interesting places, and rail as the preferred method of travel. And who doesn't enjoy travelling first class on the best trains?
