Extremely disappointing experience for $200 per night on a work trip. Was provided a room not in the actual hotel but ushered to one around the side that had direct street access. It appeared to be an old shop that had been made into a room with 1990s decor.

The room was extremely noisy, drafty and felt very exposed to street level. Every truck, bus, car and pedestrian was audible and unsettling.

There was not desk to work on.

Totally overpriced and outright dated. Was a 2 star motel at best. An absolute rip off and would not recommend.

Didn't stay in the hotel, but visited for dinner. It was a reservation with a large group of people. All the facilities were run down, menu's very much need updating.

Tried ordering the apple crumble but was told they no longer served it and instead they had the apple Danish. I'm surprised they hadn't even crossed out on the menus and just let customers think they have it. Waitress wasn't overly friendly either. I ordered the Parma for dinner and it was average, a bit dry and bland.

I was expecting good things from the place, I've never been before but from what I've heard it has/had a good reputation. I'm not sure what happened but it unfortunately didn't live up to the hype tonight.

An outstanding heritage building - a significant part of the colonial streetscape of Bendigo. The centrality of its location is a very important aspect of the property.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous and made us feel very welcome.
The restaurant food was excellent, as was the service.
The facilities were good - the room spacious and quiet. Parking was conveniently located and very reasonably priced.
The only comment one can make is that the old lady is now a bit tired in places - the last major refit was in the early 1980s and this is starting to show - but otherwise, a great place.

We stayed in a small standard room which was perfect for what we needed.

Reception and bar staff were warm, friendly and funny. Aswell as incredibly helpful.

This entire place has so much character and charm. The ambient sounds of the traffic going past didn't bother us and reminded us our city stay in London.

Great coffee and breakfast.

This will be a regular stay for us.

Two things visitors should know: 1) if you book a room with breakfast included, make sure you get a breakfast card at check-in to avoid questions. The cost of $50 for two breakfasts when added to your room rate is actually very good. 2) Overnight parking is free on weekends at the multi-story council car park on Hargreaves Street. We checked out on a public holiday and found the roller-door was shuttered with our car locked in, but the hotel receptionist has a magic swipe card that let us out. No worries. Rooms are comfortable. Breakfast was tasty - just be prepared to wait!

We stayed at Hotel Shamrock from July 12–13 and had a very disappointing experience. The room was freezing cold on arrival, and despite turning the heater on at 3:30PM, it remained cold hours later. A staff member checked and confirmed the unit wasn’t working properly, yet no one ever followed up as promised. We waited over two hours and couldn’t reach reception again.

My partner became unwell due to the cold, and the lack of support was unacceptable. On top of that, we received a rude call at 10:40AM demanding we check out exclaiming check out was at 10:00qm, even though the hotel’s website clearly says Sunday check-out is 11AM.

I emailed management on July 13th and notified the person at front desk on the day of check out about our disappointing stay, who said someone would contact me a but I’ve received no reply whatsoever. Weeks later, we’ve been completely ignored despite multiple attempts to reach out.

For the amount of money we spent, this level of service is shocking. No accountability, no apology, and no basic customer care. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Recently stayed in Bendigo and while didn't stay in the hotel itself, did have breakfast one day at the Shamrock.

Ordered the Big Breaky, and considered it good value for money. Everything was cooked well and well seasoned.

I will say there was some room for improvement on my latte, but the Shamrock is first and foremost a country pub and my city slicker coffee taste shouldn't reflect on the Shamrock.

Rooms at 0 stars as I didn't stay in a room and can't make comment.

While I didn't order, there were a number of options that could be made vegetarian and I believe vegan.
