An Unforgettable Safari Adventure – Walk for the Best Experience!

Monarto Safari Park is an absolute gem, and our recent visit truly exceeded all expectations – it's a definite 5-star experience!
A huge thank you goes to the friendly guide who greeted us at the entrance. Their brilliant suggestion to walk to the first stop instead of taking the bus completely transformed our day. We ended up walking through the first three magnificent enclosures, immersing ourselves in the incredible surroundings. The views were truly fantastic, and being able to explore at our own pace made the animal encounters feel much more personal and impactful.
We eventually hopped on the bus at the chimps enclosure, and even the drive back up towards the lions was a fantastic journey, offering different perspectives. I cannot stress enough how much I would highly recommend walking most of it – the experience is simply superior, and the views are unmatched.
Travelling with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old was surprisingly easy; our Babyzen stroller navigated the paths with no issues at all. It was great to find clean toilets and water refill stations at each of the main stations, making it very convenient for families.
Just a practical tip: even in May, the sun can be strong, so I highly recommend putting on plenty of sunscreen!
We had such an incredible time and are already looking forward to our next visit, especially to see the expansion of the elephant enclosure. We'll definitely be back!

Great experience for the whole family. You can see all the animals from the buses. You can hop on and hop off at different stops to see more of different animals and there are walking tracks also available to further explore the zoo. Many of the animals are on the brink of extinction and coming to the zoo is a brilliant way to fund their survival and support breeding programs to ensure their survival.

An unforgettable safari adventure at Monarto Safari Park!

We had such an incredible day exploring Monarto Safari Park — it truly exceeded all our expectations. One of the absolute highlights was seeing the giraffes up close. During our visit, a whole group of giraffes seemed so playful and excited, running around as if they were putting on a show for us! It was such a special moment that made the experience feel magical.

The open plains, wide landscapes, and natural enclosures gave us the feeling of being on a real African safari. The park is well-maintained, the staff are friendly and informative, and the walking trails are peaceful with beautiful scenery. We also loved using the viewing platforms — perfect for capturing videos and photos of the animals roaming freely.

If you’re in South Australia, this is an absolute must-visit. A perfect day out for families, couples, or anyone who loves wildlife!

Must to do if you are in SA, especially in Adelaide. Can't find another safari park, that's this safe, and can enjoy wild animals this up close. Our day was fabulously spent looking at these animals on their own habitat. No cages, no chains - just pure nature. Thank you for the management, and especially the staff! I was thrilled to look at lion pride eye to eye. They are magnificent.

An unforgettable safari experience close to home!

We had such an amazing time at Monarto Safari Park! The open-range setting made it feel like a true African safari, and seeing the animals roam freely in such a large and natural space was absolutely incredible. From the majestic lions to the graceful giraffes and the playful meerkats, every moment was special.

A big thank you to the friendly volunteer on the safari bus, they were so informative, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. Their commentary made the whole experience even more enjoyable and helped us appreciate the park’s conservation efforts even more. We really admired their kindness and knowledge, and it made our drive around the park so much more engaging and meaningful.

Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone who loves wildlife and wants to support a good cause. We’ll definitely be back!

Travelling from interstate and decided to add this to the list. Had been once as a child when it first open but it has come leaps and bounds since then. Great also if you are super mobile. Option to sit on the bus but also get off at certain exhibits for a closer look. The chimps were brilliant. We also did the lions 360 which was fantastic. This park is run by volunteers and is a not for profit so do yourself a favor and visit. You'll get a great experience and are helping the park. Definitely pre book also so you don't miss out.

Great safari park. Totally strange driving around an Aussie paddock looking at African animals. Be great to visit again after some rain and things have greened up. What a great tourist attraction to establish and help with conservation and very well run. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend..... but maybe not during school holidays
