Visited the Torrens Arms Restaurant on a Saturday night in late autumn. Despite making a last-minute booking, the staff were very accommodating and friendly throughout the evening.

We ordered the roasemary roast lamb shoulder and crispy skin duck. The lamb was incredibly tender and generously portioned, easily enough for two to share. The duck was cooked to perfection, moist and well-balanced in size. Meals were delivered promptly after ordering, which was a pleasant surprise on a busy evening.

The atmosphere is more bistro-style than formal dining, but the service and food quality more than make up for it. Also worth noting, they’re currently offering a great movie deal with the local cinema: $12 tickets and 2-for-1 drinks. Fantastic value overall. Would happily return!

Just wanted to say a huge thankyou to the staff after holding our 70th birthday celebration upstairs in ‘The Loft’ on Sat night. The venue is perfect for any party , holding 60 people comfortably with 2 beautifully decorated main rooms, a seperate bar area and the fabulous balcony! The night was relaxed and seamless from our point of view and everyone enjoyed Mitcham’s best kept secret !! Thanks specially to Acacia for making the whole process easy …we’d highly recommend…5 + stars

After waiting too long for table service, we waited about 45 minutes for our meals. The nourish bowl was practically tasteless, and my daughter asked for a pizza and was told they were out of pizza bases. We were told we could get gluten free gravy with the roast but it came out with none. As we ordered mainly gluten free meals it should have clicked that the bread rolls a waiter dropped onto our table without any eye contact would be wasted and an alternative offered. Unfortunately, a waiter also removed my meal whilst I was still eating it (I asked for it back). Definitely won't be returning.

I ordered my usual chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and it was excellent. In fact, the mushroom sauce was amazing... the best I have ever had. My mum had the lamb roast special which was also delicious as it was too much for her.
Pleasant service for all the wait staff.

We have always had good experiences here with fresh food and good service. Tonight we waited a long time for someone to take our order, waited ages for food, then they forgot the kids meal. None of the staff seemed too bothered. Food still good and fresh when you can eventually place an order.

I hate it when seated at a pre-booked table and then service is minimal. Takes ages to ask for drinks order, then a ridiculous amount of time to actually get your drinks, and then not once across the evening asked if we’d like another round! After all it’s a watering hole isn’t it, and that’s their core business? Only saving grace is the food was nice.

I had the fish n chips. It was delicious and a good serving. My wife had a chicken schnitzel she was disappointed it was about a quarter the size of other seniors schnitzels she’s had at other hotels at same or lower prices. My two guests also had the chicken schnitzel, what they got was a schnitzel cut in halves. The seniors menu says schnitzel, it doesn’t say half a schnitzel .A seniors meal is supposed to be a normal meal, discounted because you are a senior. NOT a small meal equivalent to a kids meal.

It is nice and warm but not from the staff. Sadly this visit did not live up to expectations. The person that we asked about a table was happy to tell us there were none in the restaurant but we could sit at the high tables. When we asked for menus we were met with an eye roll and they reluctantly fetched them for us. The steel was mostly fat and gristle. Not in a hurry to come back.
