Doodle Cooma Arms Hotel - Henty, New South Wales

We have dined at the Doodle Cooma Arms in Henty several times since July while staying around the area. The food is great - just what you need in a pub meal (good sized, standard pub grub plus a limited Asian menu, and I think the chef also makes other off-the-menu Asian dishes). Reasonable prices. The pub has a pretty, older style dining room and a large undercover outdoor area that could be used for wood fired pizza, spit roasts, live music and so on if there was interest from punters. Plenty of parking, good facilities. The dining room has been quiet of late - last visit, we saw quite a few people getting takeaway meals instead of dining in. There does not seem to be a stable team of staff but the people who are working there seem very nice. By way of explanation for the quietness, we were told by locals that there had been a recent change of ownership - perhaps that has produced hesitation from people to patronise the pub? Hard to know. Anyway, we will keep returning here while the service and meals are good.

The new owners have just taken over and visiting henty, we have been to the restaurant now on two occasions. Each time the meal was beautiful, The kitchen very clean, and the new owners are busy cleaning up the whole establishment.

It's a great place to eat or stop by and have a drink or really beautiful meal.

The first night we tried the Chinese menu and our favourite was the honey chicken and the Black pepper beef and rice.

The next night , We opted for the chicken schnitzel and salad and the Scotch fillet steak. It was absolutely beautiful and a big surprise to be able to get such a quality meal and steak in Henty!

We had pineapple fritters for dessert. So lovely with 2 huge scoops of 2 different vanilla ice creams.

The only suggestion might be to add a dusting of icing sugar on the fritters or some cinnamon sugar. But that's just my taste.

We then went into the pool room. Such fun to play pool with my family and win😁

I had the best steak I’ve ever tasted tonight at the DCA Hotel. The mashed potatoes were handmade, seasoned to perfection, and incredibly smooth. The fries were fried to a beautiful golden color. The kitchen was the cleanest I’ve ever seen—spotless and shining. The chefs and staff provided outstanding service. Highly recommended!

We are very impressed with the food at the DCA. Kitchen and entire place is very clean and it’s a newly done up.
Last night we had honey chicken, satay beef, black pepper beef, chicken schnitzel and then pineapple fritters for dessert. The food was delicious and portions very generous.
Tonight we had chicken schnitzel and scotch fillet steaks (medium well done). The steak melted in my mouth and was the best steak I’ve ever had in a country hotel. The salad was fresh, tasty and so yum!
After dinner and drinks we had a laugh playing pool.
We had another great evening and highly recommend the Doodle Cooma Arms country hotel. All the best to the new Owners!

Honestly the most disappointing experience I have had at a pub in a long time. Took over an hour for us to get a lunch time meal when the pub was practically empty, there were 2 other tables in for lunch!

Meals were very basic and average at best. They also all came out at different times, two of us had completely finished our lunches before the others meals had even came out. The lunch time Parma which was so small didn’t even have ham on it. Also the waitress said she would bring our cutlery and 10 minutes later when we still didn’t have any we had to go find our own. I would not eat here again. At least it wasn’t expensive.

The bartender also had no idea how to pour a beer and we couldn’t even get a pint because she didn’t know how to put it through the till.

If you are coming through this direction either stop at Culcairn, make the detour to Holbrook or keep going through to Wagga as this was shocking.

My wife and I had lunch at the Doodle, I had the nicest rump steak ever, and my wife had satay chicken and she loved it. We were very surprised by how much we got for the price, great value for money. We will be back, soon...

Tried the new Asian menu, pleasantly surprised by the fresh, light flavours. Good service from a young man on his first shift. Coffee was hot and strong, just the way I like it. Complimentary chocolates were a delicious bonus.

Came into the DCA tonight for a meal with friends. Was delighted by all the spooky fun they had in store for the trick or treaters!

Decided to order the steak. I must tell you… it was AMAZING!! Probably the nicest cut and cooked to perfection steak I’ve ever had! Even my very critical husband said his steak was way beyond what he thought. Absolutely perfect!

The venue looks great, very welcoming and my goodness.. you don’t be disappointed with a meal.

They always have specials on hand, so try one out.
