This is a superb little museum that gives a brilliant take on the discovery of this part of Australia, local history and the development of Bribie island and the Moreton Bay Area. There is a great amount of historical information, old photos, displays and some beautiful model wooden boats. Plenty of activities for kids too as well as visual displays . Highly recommend visiting here. It’s free.

The site was located next to the beach. Very well maintained and well presented.

The receptionist was very friendly and welcomed us with a big smile.

We had short and sweet time at the museum. It is free for all and opened on weekends too .

There was an exhibition called "Bridging Now to Next" today. Unfortunately, I didn't participate in it. When I arrived, they were already packing up. When I entered, a tall man greeted me warmly. He asked me where I was from. He said that he had a friend who was also from Taiwan (or had been to Taiwan, because I heard that he traveled everywhere, and then learned martial arts (Kung Fu). Finally, I think he said that if I had any questions about the exhibition, I could ask him.

I had the absolute pleasure along with my wife & a group of people from the Carseldine Probus Club last Thursday morning, the 19th of September 2024, to visit the Bribie Island Seaside Museum 🏝 🏝.

This contemporary museum, which is located 1 South Esplanade, Bongaree QLD 4507 in Apex Park, is in an ideal location overlooking the bay & Pumistone Passage.

The Seaside Museum has a website moretonbay.qld.gov.at that provides information 😀
They have a telephone number (07) 5433 2596.

Admission to this historical museum is free to everyone 😀

The Seaside Museum has interesting artefacts from Bribie Islands history, such as the growth of tourism & arrival of holiday makers via the popular steamboat ferry the "Koopa"!

We saw a detailed display about Bongaree, who was Matthew Flinders' travelling companion & the man who the town is named after.

Feline lovers will appreciate the exhibit about Matthew Flinders seafaring cat Trim 🐈

We took in the sights of a variety of sea creatures preserved in specimen bottles.

We learnt & saw a detailed video of the local reclusive artist Ian Fairweather & learnt about his extraordinary raft trip from Darwin to Roti Island in Indonesia 🏝

The Bribie Island Seaside Museum is family-friendly with kids zone & a gift shop.

So,if you are looking at something different to do while visiting or spending time on Bribie Island, this is definitely worth stopping by.

Great seaside museum and gallery. The museum is rich with intriguing history and the constantly evolving art exhibitions reflect not just the beauty of the island but the culture both before and since settlement. Nicely located on the water with swimming, parks and cafes all within walking distance.
Would give six stars if l could.
