The Sebel Margate Beach exceeded my expectations. The rooms were wonderful, very clean, modern and had everything you would need for a few nights. The location of the property is fantastic, the view from your room (if ocean front) is gorgeous, great board walking tracks from right out the front of the hotel - the rooftop bar and the downstairs restaurant were wonderful, breakfast was delicious! And lastly the staff - everyone was so friendly and helpful, it was everything a hotel should be. We will definitely be back.

Pleasantly surprised with this little gem. Great location by the seaside making a beautiful place to walk and the view from roof top was gorgeous ( we had lovely weather on the first day)
Our room was on the southern side on the building with a spacious balcony with sea view still possible
Room is spacious and clean and quiet
Ordered from roof top bar a delicious Angus burger and yummy cheesy flatbread
Staff were efficient and welcoming
The one lift does work hard so just ensure you are not in a rush to get anywhere
I thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would recommend

We stayed in a suite room overlooking the water. The room was very nice, clean and spacious with a small kitchenette and large bathroom. Wardrobe is tiny. On check in I found the staff to be friendly and fast. There is a lovely boardwalk and path along the waterfront and you could walk for a very long way.|Other than that, there is not much else at Margate Beach. A take away/restaurant fish shop, which was very nice and a chicken shop.|We had drinks and ate at the restaurant downstairs and found out that it is not connected with the hotel. Other than one nice young girl working casual, the staff don't really want to be there and were not hepful to anyone who had an Accor drink voucher. The food was fine though.

Hotel is in a wonderful location with beautiful views and close to public transport. Rooms (particularly waterfront ones) are nice and roomy with good facilities. With no “Accor” restaurant this is disappointing and the on-site restaurant Sunny’s lets the hotel down. Meals are restricted and menu is odd.

I booked a room through Agoda for a weekend stay (7 June 2025) at The Sebel Hotel. Upon arrival, we discovered that the assigned room had a strong smell of paint and poor air circulation, posing a serious health hazard. With no alternative solution provided, we were left with no choice but to vacate the hotel, which disrupted our plans. Despite the circumstances and the fact that the reservation was prepaid, the hotel ultimately refused to issue a refund.||||During the room inspection, the reception staff stated that he had a nasal condition and was unable to assess the issue. He also claimed that the hotel was fully booked and could not offer an alternative. When I explained that I could not risk my family's health by staying in the room, he then mentioned that one room was still available. Unfortunately, that room had the same issue. I later learned that several rooms had been recently painted, and due to poor air circulation, the strong odor persisted. This points to a significant failure in hotel management and poses a serious risk to guest safety.||||I requested to speak with the manager and cancel my booking, but the Sebel staff informed me that the manager was unavailable and could not be contacted immediately. I was told the only option was to email the manager regarding my refund request. I proceeded to send the email and then left the hotel with my family. The manager ignored this and a subsequent email. In his response to my third email, five days later, he arbitrarily dismissed the issue and refused to provide a refund.||||When I contacted Agoda, the service team informed me that The Sebel had confirmed no solution would be offered. Despite stating, 'Agoda is committed to supporting our customers in any way we can, so we'd like to help regardless of the property's decision,' the team ultimately provided no assistance.

The accomodation was very pleasant. Great bed and pillows and bathroom was great. Location great for us to Uber to a concert at the entertainment centre.|Lunch at Sunny's was wonderful and good value for money. |A bit noisy locally in the early hours of the morning and windows don't block out noise. |Disappointed with housekeeping as I left a very special and valuable clothing item in the room and it wasn't handed in by housekeeping. Karma for your dishonesty. Hope the Sebel is made aware of same and the service providers they use.|But the reception did try and follow it up but no luck.

Wonderful rooms and downstairs restaurant. Very clean and comfortable. Parking in the basement which was very handy. The only downfalls were no toothbrush in the bathroom and only one lift in the complex, so you can wait a while as staff also use the lift for private functions on a Saturday evening. Besides that, right next the beach, quiet location, wonderful customer service. Thanks again!

I recently reviewed this hotel and gave a rave review.
Unfortunately, I need to update and for-warn potential visitors to this establishment.
After check-out, I checked my bank account as I did not receive a receipt (until many days after my departure when it was finally emailed), to discover that I had been charged an additional surcharge.
I contacted the property and several days later the Front Desk Supervisor, emailed me informing me that a surcharge is standard practice at most hotels. In all of my vast travel experience, I am not charged additional fees over and above the stated fees.

I was not advised about the fee at check in. I use my Visa Savings and it does not incur a fee anyway.

Five business days since I emailed the Front Desk Supervisor requesting that my complaint be escalated as a matter of principle. No response.

An additional $6 + per booking, without any customer warning = a lot of additional income for Sebel.

Based on this lack of transparency and Customer Service, I will book Oaks Mon Komo next month, where members receive a discount and there is total transparency and no extra surcharges. Pity. It was a nice property.
