Absolutely delicious!!! Has to be the best pub we have been to in a while! Came here with my partner, and 1 dish with and entree was well and truly enough for us both. Food was made quickly despite it being christmas eve, the ham on the parmi must've been the nicest ham I've had all year, and the atmosphere was cheery and welcoming. Will absolutely be coming back here!

We went for lunch on a day trip. It was great with lovely open fire. Music was at the perfect level and the team were very pleasant and helpful. Great service overall. Food was great, the salad dressing was at the perfect level. The only minor downside was the edges of the schnitzels were hard to cut.

We are locals at The George Bar & Dining but haven't been for a while. Went for dinner on Friday night with Jack, Chelsea, and granddaughter, Sofia. Very accommodating as we had to change times a few times. As usual - fantastic food and drink, service and atmosphere (our 15-month-old granddaughter loved her kids' fish and chips). Keep up the good work!

Wonderful gem of a place my partner and I stopped at for dinner before our drive back to Sydney - we had duck breast, Parmesan chips, Angus beef pie and seafood chowder which were really filling and delicious. The pastry of the pie was flaky, the skin of the duck breast was nice and crispy and the fries were perfectly deep fried dusted with Parmesan!

For dessert we had a pear tart and crème brûlée, and it was the perfect end to our night! Service was attentive and top notch to match the food, highly recommend!

What a surprise this place is!
I had no idea what to expect, however, immediately upon entry, the place is gloriously, homey, rustic, and country!
The menu was thorough, and they had a truffle special period when I went, thus truffle meals were ordered.
Produce is fresh and local, and of the highest quality.
Cold outside warm inside and just a fantastic experience.

Lovely surprise.

Drive 🚗 to Bungendore for our lunch for the first time on the main street of Gibraltar Street, where all the shops are. 😀

Our first entrance to The George Bar 🍸 and Dinner 🍽, what a gem 💎 and surprise is the restaurant 👌, the place is glorious, looks like you at home 🏡 but away from home 🏡.

Wonderful warmly and cosy 😀 in side of the restaurant 😀.

We were welcome 🙏 by friendly, 😀 Mr Aman, the Manager and Waiter looked after us as we ordered our lunch 😀, the best service that he can gave us.

Thanks to the chef 👨‍🍳 who cooked 🍳 our meals.

We had a surf and turf, the next American stile sticky pork ribs 😋, and the George Burgers 🍔.

We by coming back again to try more of the lovely meals 😋

The area was occupied by the Ngarigo people whose northern most 🙄 lands extended to the southern shore 🙄 of Lake George and west of what is now Bungendore.

The first Europeans were members of the exploratory party of Dr Charles Throsby (1777 - 2 April 1828) in 1820 who, along 😀 with Hamilton Hume (19 June 1797 - 19 April 1873).
In 1824, botanist and explorer Allen Cunningham (13 July 1791 - 27 June 1839 ) passed through Bungendore.

A year later, the first Europeans settlers arrived. In 1837, the survivor James Larmer (1808 or 1809 - 1886) laid out the town plan of Bungendore, and the same year 😀 they proclaimed Bungendore as a "town ".

By 1848, 30 people lived in the town of Bungendore. By 1851, the population was 63.

When the railway 🛤 arrived on 4 March 1885, the town began to grow more quickly. The town remained a railhead from 1885 until the line reached Queanbeyan in 1887.

Coming of the railway, the 1880s proved a for the town and the population increased from 270 in 1881 to 700 by 1885.
Bungendore was proclaimed a village for a second time, in 1885, as a consequence of the Crown Lands Act 1884.

In 1894, gold ✨️ was discovered at Bywong.

In 1901, a site known as "Lake George," just to the north of Bungendore and adjacent to Lake George, was proposed as the site for the national capital city.
This did not eventuate as the drawcard of Lake George failed to impress the visiting Commissioners of the time.

Today's population is 4,745, (2021 census))

Location, 38 km (24mi) E of Canberra, 70 km (43 mi) SW of Goulburn, 26 km (16 mi) E of Queanbeyan. 112 km (70 mi) NW Batemans Bay, 267 km (166 mi) SW of Sydney.
