We stayed here back in 2021.
This place was a good price. It had:
- A cinema and games for the kids
- A big, bright upstairs family room.
One downside of our stay was that they threw out my $30 of fresh, organic, quality food. And apparently the lady on reception (Wendy) is not as she appears, throwing people out of the hostel if they dare complain.

This hostel has great communal spaces, with spacious common areas perfect for relaxing and meeting other travelers. The kitchen is well-equipped and roomy, making it easy to cook your own meals. The toilets and showers are kept very clean, which is a big plus. Free parking is a great bonus, especially if you’re driving.||However, be prepared to make your own bed upon arrival, which can be a bit inconvenient. Also, the staff aren’t the most helpful when it comes to local recommendations, so you might need to do your own research on things to do in the area.||Overall, a solid option if you’re looking for a clean and comfortable place with good shared facilities!

I was excited to stay at YHA, and overall, the hostel is great. My first night was actually amazing. I stayed in a 6-bed female dorm on Level 3 and was really satisfied with the room.

The next morning, I made a decision to extend my stay. Due to availability, I had to move to a 4-bed female dorm on Level 1, which cost more but felt like a downgrade. That floor feels quite rundown, the corridor is narrow, and my room was right next to the bathroom, which made it noisy. People were still loud even after 10 PM, which affected my sleep, and the soundproofing wasn’t great. On top of that, the shower pressure was extremely low.

If I had only stayed the first night, I would’ve given 5 stars. But unfortunately, sleep quality is everything, and what I experienced on the second night just doesn’t justify the price I paid. Overall, I’d rate my stay 2.5 stars.

Had a comfortable stay here, opted for the top bunk because the bottom one did not have an outlet available. Had a sock fall behind the cabinet so when I shifted things to get them back, found quite a few items and lots of dust. Bathrooms didn’t have the cleanest feel to them, and neither did the carpet, though nothing was outright gross. Really really liked the building / architecture / stained glass. Kitchen is huge and so was common area, plus location was great. Would stay here again but wouldn’t take anybody I was trying to impress.

Its a fine line between 'cosy' and 'run down' and this place sadly felt more the latter. The rooms were basic if not a bit damp/musty. The bunk beds are the very flimsy ones which creak every time someone rolls over. The kitchen facilities weren't great with quite a few of the hobs/ burners not working so there was often a queue to use them. The living space is big but all the sofas look and feel knackered.||Most reception staff were helpful although when we checked in we weren't given our breakfast vouchers, and when I enquired about it afterwards the receptionist was quite rude and seemed reluctant to give me our passes (even though I had clearly booked with breakfast included).

The best things is the great location - limited parking spaces available but you can park free on Edward st.
Friendly staff.
Clean facilities (rooms, toilets, bath, kitchen).
Aldi, Woolies are located in walking distances.
Can add breakfast buffet for $12 - they didn’t have many options but okay for the price.
If you don’t mind shared facilities, probably the best and the cheapest option for your Blue Mountains trip.
