The red room is exactly what you want in a loval pub, but this in right in the middle of the city! The bar staff are extremely friendly and could not be more accommodating, the atmosphere is great and the jugs are cheap and cold. It's got a nostalgic feel that makes you feel at home.

I do feel bad for staff when they have to put up with talking people through the sign in system. Whoever thought making people download an app to sign into a venue that has ZERO phone reception needs their head checked.

Now that the red room secret is out (best spot in the city for a few cobbies), make the weary traveller permanent please, or at least some sort of live venue. Sydney City is sorely missing live music venues of this size.

I spent my first night as a member here and could not have been happier.
It was like a dream!
It’s a miracle the place exists in this fashion. An absolute time warp in the best possible way.
Room was clean and incredible value.
Sydney cops a bad wrap for not protecting its heritage but it’s still an interesting town when joints like this exist.

I started staying here a couple of months ago for work. It’s clean and neat and so central. One of Sydney’s most iconic buildings and right in Martin place. I pinch myself every time I walk in the door. To top it off the staff are just lovely and go the extra mile. I recommend it so highly.

Authentic decor and service from staff. We had a team lunch here and we enjoyed our meal and dining experience. It's amazing how they kept the original look and feel. The lady serving at the bistro was wonderful.

One of Sydney's best kept secrets. Its the perfect place to stay and/or drink in the city. Location is amazing. The rooms are clean and retro. The red room is magnificent and the staff are amazing.

Interesting place to get away from the hussle and bussle of the city. Food is average but you're not going there for anything amazing. Will comeback next time after work for a beer!

Finally I know what's inside the mysterious Space Mushroom. I'm giving it four stars because you have to specifically be looking for a timewarp to enjoy this place. The food is, well, 1970s RSL standard: edible and economic with no modern flair. The decor is untouched: carpets on the walls, wood-paneled bistro, very unique atmosphere. Reminds me of The Shining hotel. It's basically a bunker deep below the MLC center. Solid silence. Extremely friendly staff, almost ethereal... my partner and I exchanged quiet jokes about them being ghosts...? For a good fifteen minutes afterwards, we were genuinely disoriented being back on the streets of Sydney. It was so peaceful and archaic down in the CTA. It's such a weird and special place. I hope it stays.
