I stayed at The Empire Hotel while in Rockhampton on business, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. I was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade on check-in, such a thoughtful touch that really made my stay extra comfortable.

The staff were warm, professional, and attentive, which made everything smooth and stress-free. The location is perfect, right by the river, close to great dining options, and central for getting around town.

My upgraded room was spacious, modern, and quiet, ideal for unwinding after a full day of meetings. The Wi-Fi was reliable, and the in-house facilities were excellent, including the gym and restaurant.

Highly recommend for business travellers – I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Rocky!

We decided to treat ourselves and stay here on our last night away. It was a beautiful hotel and we loved our room - absolutely beautiful views and was clean and modern with beautiful furnishings. We also loved the pool and the restaurants just downstairs. Even the body wash and shampoo provided in the bathroom was incredible, I have since bought some for us to use at home!

Stayed three days for a meeting April 2025. Immaculate modern rooms, good beds, very clean with cold split aircon. Front Desk are the warmest professionals I've seen in a while. Great sense of humour and willing to solve any problem. I'm old and hard to please but I really like this place. Straight out the back door into The Coffee Club and through that onto the river walk street. Close to the Cri Hotel (excellent bistro menu, value for money). You won't be disappointed...

We’ve just stayed 8 nights at Empire & have been very impressed with this accommodation. The rooms are spotlessly clean & are serviced every day. Large balcony & we were overlooking the river. We were given a room on the 3rd floor & after the first night we asked if there was a possibility of a higher floor, we were moved the next day to level 7. For a long stay there is everything we need - washing machine & dryer, cooktop @ microwave. I actually managed to cook a couple of simple meals during our stay, it’s a tiny kitchen area but it worked! Friendly staff & close to lots of restaurants

I stayed for eleven nights at Empire and the rooms are good, modern-ish and big and likely the best, or close to the best in Rockhampton. The rooms have a spacious balcony and with a clothes washer and dryer, more amenities than the average hotel room. I stayed in two rooms and the second room had a critter in the shower one night but it disappeared by the morning.

The pool is excellent with very cool, refreshing and clean water, perfect for the humid conditions, but arguably too cold if the weather is cold or at night. Most won't want to swim then anyway but it is dead-set perfect for a hot day.

My only problem with the hotel is that I couldn't use the pool much due to being at a competition most days and they refused to allow me to use the hotel facilities whilst I waited for my 8pm flight, forcing me basically to go the airport and wait there for an eternity. This is the only time in my entire travels across the globe, including much more expensive ones, that have not allowed me to use facilities on my last day after a stay of decent length and it would have been nice for them to give me that opportunity as I only got to on two occasions.

On the flipside they were helpful when I had banking issues. I paid $230 per night which is neither a cheap nor expensive price-point but at that pricepoint relative to quality it is a good option versus others in the town if you can spend 33% more than other places in the area.

Your accessible room and responding to our requests with care and concern was wonderful. Your professional and caring staff led by your manager Cassie was outstanding and it opened the door to so much possibility to live life fully where travel is very difficult and almost impossible for some. My husband and myself stayed at the Empire Hotel for three nights in January! We discovered a leak in the bathroom sink, which had soaked all our items on the shelf below! On discovering this leak, which was about 8pm, my husband immediately reported it to reception! Reception said it was too late to call maintenance, but assured him that maintenance would attend to the problem first thing in the morning! That night we had to use the kitchen and laundry areas to wash our hands, clean our teeth etc!
The next morning we rose early expecting maintenance to arrive! No one turned up so my husband went down to reception to find out why maintenance hadn't arrived! Reception informed him that housekeeping staff would access the situation and would call maintenance if they thought it necessary!
We left the room for our planned daily activities thinking the leaking sink would be fixed!
When we returned latter in the day the sink was still leaking, which meant our bathroom facilities could not be used for another night!
On discovering this, I went down to reception, and reported that the bathroom sink was still leaking!The two receptionist assured me that maintenance didn't work on the weekend (I am wondering why the receptionist on the Friday thought someone would be there first thing on Saturday morning)
Consequently we were moved to another room, which was inconvenient, as we had unpacked our belongings the previous day (but at least we had bathroom facilities)!
We left our room the next day (expecting our room to be serviced)! When we returned the room had not been serviced at all! We had thrown our towels on the shower floor to be replaced!
We had to wash and dry them before use, and the bed was not made!
All this made our stay at your hotel quite unpleasant!
We have stayed at your hotel before and every thing has been fine, but this last experience has made me think we should go elsewhere!
