Absolutely the worst rental company in town I would much rather spend twice the money catching Ubers interstate than have to deal with the complete lack of professionalism this company has. I booked a car for literally 24 hours now let’s do some maths real quick $550 for a deposit then $98 for the rental oh don’t forget the mandatory $40 insurance “option” that is forced to be payed if ur not paying with a credit card anyways that would equal about $690 so tell me why ur incompetent worker tries charging me upwards of $800 then tries to justify the upcharge with “cause ur picking up early” after I question her about it for a start I was a few mins late so how could I even be early? From the seems of things ur own company doesn’t know how to run a company like im no expert but it’s probly not smart to park every single car bumper to bumper causing scratches/damages to nearly every single car on the lot please for ur own benefit do better and any future customers please do urself a favour and get ur future rental cars/trucks thru hertz better rates and they drop the price of ur bond after a few rentals only ever used Avis twice as a last resort and never again after my last experience

Please be aware for extra costs when booking with Avis.
Seems to be a reoccurring issue with customers not being told about excesses and additional fees when booking and then different upon arrival.
I have contacted them about this to receive a very generic and unhelpful reply.
Safe to say Avis continues to give out misinformation and continues to charge people regardless. Will not be using AVIS again.

Very pleasant and helpful staff, particularly given that it was a Public Holiday which I had not realised when making the booking. The car was in very good condition, as you would expect from Avis. Reasonably competitive rates, but consider it as good value for money given the availability, accessibility and condition of vehicle.

Receiving the vehicle condition report is somewhat after the fact given that I received via email and after I had already picked up the car. Would have been more helpful to have that report at hand when picking the car up so that all issues captured in the report could be confirmed (or added to) prior to leaving the Avis location.

I had used other rental companies during this trip and they were able to check / address any toll issues when dropping off, whereas with Avis this resulted in some follow up about two weeks after the rental, however they were dealt with very well by Jess.

Quick and easy service and the car is great for what I need it for. Plenty of mileage covered even though it is only being used for short town trips. The reason for 2 stars is because what started off as a $900 ish hire for a week turned into $1600 when I actually got to pick the car up. Spoke with reservations on the phone as my own car is damaged due to an accident and was advised the deposit is $200 paid upfront and the rental cost was so much per day which was payable when i returned the car. When I got to AVIS to collect the car, I was advised that the $200 was actually $900 because I had a debit card. That and it will take between 10 and 15 days to return my money. Funny it takes so long when they take it off tou immediately. There was also an additional cost for excess on top of the hire cost. I was told by the staff member that the reservations team is overseas and is giving out the incorrect information. Luckily I could make up the additional cost but others may not be so lucky. Be aware when making an online reservation or speaking with the reservations team, that the information is highly likely to be wrong!

Not happy that I wasn't advised of the additional costs as I would have sought a different rental company.

We hired a 3 ton truck to move house. Truck was almost new very clean and barely used any fuel. Hire was straight forward quick and easy. However having to pay extra to be able to use the lift on the back of the truck is criminal.
