Location of hotel and Views from room was fabulous.
Everything else is below average.

We stayed some years ago and had looked forward to revisiting but now just seems very dated and unloved/poorly maintained. Some walls marked and looking shabby, some mould on bath etc. Wifi not good. Reception staff seemed uninterested. Offhand/uninformative about hotel, parking etc. This could easily be improved.

Room good size. Pool looks great.

At $200 for the one night stay..will
probably search other hotels in area next time. Would be happier with a smaller but more modern decor and shower.. and good wifi.

Stayed on second floor this stay.

There was a little misunderstanding with our booking and the check in process was quite lengthy as three different staff had input to it while they sorted it out. The whole experience was a little like something out of "Fawlty Towers". Once that was sorted I had a very pleasant two night stay. The room is quite spacious, with a comfortable bed and great views from the balcony. The location of the accommodation is excellent with many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.

The room we had was in need for a refurbishment. |It was clean, but desperate to be modernised. |Mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. |No ice cubes in fridge|No shower gel in bathroom. |One pillowcase was stained. The rooms look nothing like the photos on line. |We had great view of the strand and ocean. Close to restaurants and cafes.

For an affordable on The Strand stay, location, amenities, room with a view, I don’t think it can be beaten. Room 1001 had it all. Thank you. We won’t be back as our daughter was on a semester abroad at JCU and we visited family in Sydney on a two birds, one stone trip. We are glad we stayed on the coast and rented a small car because the university is an hour bus ride (25 minutes in your car). Tried to check in early but 2pm is early enough for them…and it wasn’t ready by then either. Pain when we landed at 9.15am in the great little airport. We fetched our kid nightly, told them we were 3 and paid $30 extra per night for sofa bed. It wasn’t on reservation they took from us when we called direct for lowest rate (or just so they didn’t have to give 20% to booking site). We found local restaurants totally filling with plenty of dining options. Calamari everywhere recommended. Longboards a great 2nd choice after attached restaurant was sold out. The ocean walk is great morning, noon and night (huge fruit bats not owls) the pier full of young fisherman with Dad’s and Grandma's a great way to wake up with the sun in your face before it gets warm. It was the end of rainy season and they’d had a doozy this year. We had 4 clear days. No regrets. Parking when returning late was often tight, small car better, but no tickets for parking outside anywhere.

Aquarius is set in an ideal location. Within easy walking distance to most shops, restaurants and activities.

The rooms themselves are dated but still very functional. Do not lose or lock your keys in your room. $50 to open your room door if you left them inside and $100 if you lose them. Parking is first come with no room for anything larger than 4WDs.

I would not hesitate to stay there again if we needed to be in the area.

Room over all was nice enough couch needed updating as it looked very well used the rest of the room was fine and clean.
Car parking is an issue with limited spots for such a large establishment.
staff are hit and miss, their policies need reviewing as unlike most other hotels they take full payment of your room the morning of arrival and fail to tell you this. then if messages of an issue when their system tries to take payment and their is a glitch don't get received only then do they call at 4.30 to say they will cancel your booking by 5pm because reception closes on a Sunday at 6pm. They also take full payment of a room if you cancel a night with less then 24 hours notice.

If you want a good comfortable room with great views then this is it. It’s not the Hilton but that reflects in the price. Other reviews of low score are just people that expect to much. Will stay again

We stayed at Aquarius on the weekend of March 13th and were extremely disappointed. Our room had no hot water so we couldn’t use the shower etc. When we informed reception, instead of offering a solution or even checking the issue, the staff member simply told us, “There’s nothing I can do, just go for a swim in the pool.”

We had stayed here a few years ago and had a much better experience, so we were shocked by the decline in service. A basic expectation of any hotel is functioning hot water, and the lack of customer service made the situation even worse. Given the price and location, we expected far better. Would not recommend based on this experience.
