I had a disappointing experience at Harris Scarfe a few months ago when I attempted to try on a Tommy Hilfiger puffer jacket. The jacket was wired to the shelf through the sleeve (understandably for security reasons), but this made it impossible to try on properly.

When I asked the staff at the front counter if they could remove it so I could try it on, the response was baffling. The staff member told me she wasn’t allowed to and that only a manager could assist. Fair enough—but when I asked for the manager’s help, she went to find them, only to return alone and tell me that if I wanted to try on the jacket, I’d have to buy it first!

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, and apparently, neither could another customer nearby, who actually laughed out loud at the absurdity of it. Since when do you have to purchase clothing before trying it on in a clothing store? I was more than happy to buy the jacket, but like any normal shopper, I just wanted to ensure it fit well and looked good first.

This was a frustrating and ridiculous "policy"—if you can even call it that. I highly doubt this is an official rule; it felt more like either the manager was too lazy to assist, or the staff member simply didn’t bother to ask. Either way, I walked away without the jacket.

I hope Harris Scarfe reconsiders how they handle situations like this because it was a completely unnecessary loss of a sale—and of my respect for their staff.

One of the biggest and well presented Harris scarfe in Sunbury I have seen in Melbourne. Huge variety of products. Great customer service. Can grab a good bargain on boxing day sale.

I needed to switch out 1 comforter for another identical 1but a different colour. I'd already purchased from them and it was awaiting my pick up. Exchanging 1 colour for another colour of the identical product required for me to pay again for the produervice in my view.ct and they will refund the other when they get around to it. Whole store had an upgrade. They can't keep everything in stock because of their size. But the whole place was lighter, brighter, staff seemed happier. Great stock of nice linen. Good signal, so you can find the area you seek. 40% off.

The store itself is very well set out, well stocked with a good range of sizes however the ticketing system is a little confusing (stock that isn't on sale displayed with stock that is). I had to return an item that I had purchased on Afterpay from another store and both sales assistants seemed very confused by the process, they almost seemed reluctant to call the shift manager to the counter to assist and I had to push for this to be done. Once the manager arrived he did the return in about 3 steps with the refund going through straight away.
