Very under whelming and disappointing My first time as a day surgery patient at this hospital First they got the details on the hospital band incorrect which was a concern. The waiting area is right by a very busy corridor and you have patients in their surgical dressing gowns just right there lined up like cattle ready for drenching. After some time I got my surgical gown bag and was led into an extra small change room. To my surprise the bag didn’t have the actual gown in it. When I asked about it they didn’t seem to care that something so necessary was missing. The change room itself was so tiny and the room was filled with used gowns from previous procedures. One can only guess what bodily fluids were on all of those. Clearly that room is not serviced nearly as regularly as needed. After changing I again need to sit in a room with a multitude of others in the same situation. Then I was called and was told to put my bag of personal items down in an area adjacent a sign that said don’t leave patients gear there as it was a tripping hazard. The staff member when questioned said she didn’t have enough time to put them away. So not only was my bag and two other patients left in an area they shouldn’t be, they were not secured as we were assured. I expect that Flinders Private would have played the “ we are not responsible for patents’s personal items” if something went missing even though clearly no care was taken to secure them. Just for reference I have had a day procedure at St Andrew’s Hospital and that was a 10/10 experience. Flinders Private fell way short of a satisfactory level. You need to lift your game dramatically.

Would never go back to the hospital , Staff were unfriendly , I was in there for heart issues. Came out being that dehydrated from IV Frusimide and went bonkers from electrolytes imbalance , went to walk out as I felt that unsafe to have a male nurse restrict me from leaving by holding the elevator door open I had to tell him to let go 3 times . I get home , then was home for 8 hours to get the ambulance back to Flinders but public this time(they were great) to find out I was going into kidney failure. Pay all this money for Private and to be put into kidney failure I went down to 20%. Just a note the specialist consults I have no issue they have been great. This happened before Xmas , and ended up being in hospital on Xmas as well.

I was told to pick up my medication at 2 pm. I arrived on time, only to find that it wasn’t ready. I overheard that the courier had already come at 1 pm and had been missed. I was asked to wait until 3 pm and by 3:20 pm, I was informed there would be an additional 30-minute delay.

I’m not sure why I was given a specific pickup time if it couldn’t be honoured. When I asked if the courier could deliver the medication to my home due to the delay, I was told this wasn’t an option.

This experience could have been avoided if the staff had offered to call my mobile when the medication was ready, instead of having me come in, waste money on a 2-hour parking spot and waste time twiddling my thumbs in the waiting room.

My first time here for tonsillectomy with Prof Simon Carney and I'm super impressed. The care here has been fantastic from the start- nurses can't do enough for you and are so kind. Comfy, spacious private rooms with lots of natural light and food is yummy. I've had lots of ice lollies and jelly inbetween meals so that has also been so helpful. Thank you so much!

Excellent care, room and food, nurses are wonderful. I was admitted 2 months ago for 3 or 4 nights but ended up being there for 2 weeks and going in again next week for further surgery. Highly recommend, cannot fault.

Very disappointed would never recommend this hospital, lack of communication to family, impacting on well being and propriate future planning. Misrepresent issues & family in discharge notes to cover themselves if problems raised by family poor coordination re communication. Run down facility, staff shortages. Recommend calvary private in Angus Street has 24/7 care, more permanent staff excellent patient care. Beware if you have a medical issue after hours at flinders private hospital they send you to flinders public hospital.
