The most personable wine tasting experience we’ve ever enjoyed anywhere. I don’t think anything comes close to the rapport we flowed into regarding the wine industry mixed with a few life stories from my Indian father-in-law. Such beautiful people, Steve you (and your partner) are a humble legend(s). If you go here it’s a very special experience, be open be kind, enjoy.

Bonus for me was to learn that Steve’s superb wine making skills are going into wines consumed in BC where I grew up. So memorable for all of us, thank you!

Was recommended by 2 friends to check this winery out. I was with my 2 older brothers, my Son, and nephew.We had not heard of it before. If you didn’t know about it you would drive past it. Went there first and was very impressed. Tried 5 different reds and they were all exceptional. 2014; 2015, 2017. Steve and his wife were very friendly and they know how to make beautiful wine. It was great to hear Steve’s wine making history, and that he came out from England on the same ship as us, but a couple of months later. Their tasting room is amazing, very warm and inviting.
2014 Shiraz. 2014 CabSav. 2017 Tempranillo were outstanding.
We were planning on visiting other wineries but after tasting these wines no other wineries would come close.
Will definitely be going there again next time I’m in SA.
You need to book a head of time.

When I think of McLaren Vale wine, I think of Danshi Rise. As a wine tour operator and lover of wine, I can categorically say that you will not find a better wine experience than Danshi Rise. Steve and Sue are the greatest hidden secret here in McLaren Vale.

Danshi is a real gem! We first visited on a local tour in 2009 and were impressed by Steve Daniel’s selection of Shiraz vintages. Steve’s subsequent vintages and varietal additions and blends have only added to this unassuming winemakers range. Currently there are three cracking releases, the signature Shiraz, a Tempranillo Mourvèdre, and if you are really serious a Cab Sauv. This winery is well worth a rewarding visit.
