This is a 19th century farm building beautifully restored and converted into very comfortable accommodation for independent travellers. It is large, filled with comfortable furniture and well equipped. The wifi is good. The hosts, Johnny and Anne, are wonderful hosts - a very friendly and helpful couple. They provide a quality experience including small touches like a welcoming bottle of local wine. We stayed in Cooks Cottage (there are 2 adjacent cottages). The setting is very picturesque but you are not far from McLaren Vale shops and restaurants and all the local wineries.

The Grape Pickers Cottages are a beautifully restored, and modernised piece of history. The story behind this property is long, and interesting. The cottages have all of the modern conveniences, and they include wonderful local food provisions on arrival (breakfast and other basics). We were staying for 5 days, and the owners were even kind enough to contact us to ask us if we needed anything from the local stores while they were there - such great service and attention to detail. The cottages are located close to many fantastic wineries, and they're only a few minutes drive from the centre of town.
The owners are really lovely people too. Do yourself a favour, and stay here!

Ann and Johnny converted these old ruins into beautiful cottages. We stayed in one of the two cottages for three nights. Our cottage had everything that we could possibly need in it; microwave, oven, induction cook top, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, reverse cycle air conditioner, fireplace, comfortable lounges and a really comfortable bed. The bathroom is very modern and even had a towel warmer for cold mornings. Ann and Johnny supplied us with a bottle of local wine and some cheese and biscuits on our arrival. We had eggs, bacon, tomatoes, fruit juice, milk, muffins and butter in the fridge, and a selection of jams and a range of teas on the bench top for our breakfast. We also had loose coffee for the coffee plunger or capsules for the coffee maker. |If anyone has trouble with steps, there are two steps leading from the bedroom to the living area and no handrails but there are handrails in the bathroom.|Great hosts and a fabulous place to use as a base to explore McLaren Vale. We will be back.

What a fabulous find these cottages were. Such a wonderful story of them being renovated back to life - enough history kept with a brilliant modern reno done to the interior. Hospitality second to none with a great array of breakfast items. Wonderful fireplace that kept the room cosy all night. Make a point of watching their DVD of how they took what was once derelict remnants of history and restored them with love and care. Perfect location - Just a short hop over the main road and you’re into the midst of McLaren Vale wineries. Highly recommend and would stay again in a flash.

This cottage is so cute and cosy! We enjoyed the fireplace every night! Super clean and has all the amenities you need (inc hair-dryer, iron/board, standard shower toiletries)! I was a bit caught off by the two cottages being attached, because our neighbours decided to crank some tunes one of the nights, but it was resolved with us pouring more wine, refeeding the fire and turning up the TV volume! The owners were super friendly and delightful! Would 100% recommend staying here!!!

Beautiful converted cottage in a lovely setting in McLaren Vale. The owners are absolutely charming. The fireplaces were very welcome, and the modern bathroom was a very nice touch (rustic charm only goes so far!). It's in a nice location, not too far from the town (although if you've been drinking, food is a short drive away and you'll have very few options for food delivery, so plan ahead). I would definitely stay here again.

Came across this gorgeous little cottage for our anniversary trip to McLaren Vale. Owners were inviting and helpful. Cottage has been renovated with a fantastic bathroom and large bedroom. Has lots of historical charm with some great new additions. Loved reading about the renovations and the history of the cottage. A 5 minute drive to local wineries, close to the Main Street and shops. Would highly recommend and will be coming back to stay for our next trip.

We felt relaxed and welcomed by wonderful hosts Ann and Johnny from the moment we arrived. Our cottage was delightful and had beautiful little touches that make this a must stay cottage. The use of natural timbers and slate are lovely and we enjoyed learning the history of how these cottages came to be renovated. You will be hard pressed to find nicer cottages anywhere and we have stayed in a few around Australia. We enjoyed a walk around the property with Ann and Johnny and learning not only about their stunning property, but also the surrounding area too. Thanks for the lovely winery and dining out tips too. Local knowledge is always welcome when travelling. The stars here are simply amazing as away from city lights and we loved the fireplace on a cold night. Looking forward to visiting the cottages again in the future.
