I have been lucky until now with few reasons to lodge insurance claims so my experience until recently has been limited. That being said, unlike every other insurer I've encountered over the last forty years, the RAA was extremely distressing to deal with when my beloved car was written off through no fault of my own. They argued the value relentlessly (which may not have bothered me but for their ridiculous initial suggestion of around 50% of the amount they grudgingly agreed to pay which still left me with a significantly worse car than I had). They also refused to reimburse my excess for around six months, even after I provided a police report stating "nil" responsibility on my part along with photos of the scene. They agreed the other party was totally at fault but suggested I would not receive my excess unless he admitted liability. They also told me I might not get my excess back at all if I changed insurers despite the car being written off and the policy paid out. I could never have imagined having to spend so much time, effort and cash to make a claim. I highly recommend AAMI.

Mt Barker store is much easier to contact and the staff are warm and friendly.Nothing worse than being put on hold for up to 20mins as happens when you ring Adelaide.
