We came across information on the lodge in a tourist brochure. So glad we did. The building has a lot of history. Having enjoyed three nights here we would certainly return. Our room was upstairs. Be aware there is no lift but we are seniors and managed fine. It was a reasonable size although the bathroom was a little small. Very clean. Loved having a microwave and toaster with crockery and cutlery provided. The bed was comfortable too. Being the middle of winter we were glad the heating in the room was on when we arrived around 6 ish. Access to the property is by key code front and back with the same code used for the room. Parking is at the rear of the lodge. The area is quiet and the best thing is the proximity to town. Just a 5 minute walk. Jan was very helpful and welcoming. We certainly recommend Campbell Street Lodge and would stay again.

Located close to town and many other lovely places, very well priced. ||||Loved the keyless digital entry pads, fabulous aircon and views, helpful hostess and history. ||||but neesome maintenance to clean carpets, remove mould from showers and fix broken and loose tiles on floor of room 9โ€™s bathroom.||||Got fresh towels every day from the helpful hostess and there are some great places for breakfast, lunch and dinner close by. Highly recommend the Railroad Pub and The Dove. ||||If you book a room here and do not mind stairs opt for one of the top floor rooms as the views are lovely. || We will be back!

This place is old, tired and badly in need of refurbishment.
There is no personal contact, electronic entry means no staff are needed to greet or assist.
My room was just OK, but the bathroom was awful. Basin and shower were both in need of a scrub. The shelf was hanging off the wall and the shower door was broken.
Dirty, torn and stained carpet in the room.
The bed was uncomfortable, I could hear the conversations of other guests, and if I used dishes, I had to take them downstairs to wash or be fined.
After one night I found a cleaner and asked to cancel the rest of my stay. She decided that apparently it wasn't the 'right fit' for me.
Then another woman came out and said 'we only get a few complaints from people like you'. I responded with 'great hospitality' !
She said I was 'upgraded' from a single room downstairs to a queen room upstairs, which was not an upgrade.
What a shame they don't listen and fix the issues.
Awful.

Room was larger than expected, well appointed and comfortable. The lodge was fully booked but was surprisingly quiet for an older building. Pin code entry is super convenient. Overall the lodge has a run down feel and needs a spruce up but it is clean.

We had one night at this lovely hotel. Gorgeous old building and the room was very comfortable. We received a text with our PIN and were able to check in easily. Off street parking was a bonus as well as a great air conditioner on a very hot day. Highly recommend

The 3* accommodation lives up to its rating. The bed was old, smelly and uncomfortable. The breakfast disappointing. The room smelt of mildew and mold. The shower recess had centipedes in it. Very cramped and unpleasant. No contact by owners except via text message. It could have been a beautiful residence but it is looking very very tired and needs refurbishing.

I like this place as an alternative to the cookie-cutter motel experience I had been having on my recent swing around Victoria. In fact, I was quite pleased with myself for choosing this place for my recent two night stay. The place does have a lovely historical ambience, and fits in nicely with the overall ambience of Castlemaine.||||It is in a quiet yet very convenient location, and so a good night's sleep was very easily achieved (no highway noise at all!).||||A lovely old building, but mod cons like air con, ensuite bathroom, fridges, kettles, free wi fi etc. Parking was easy; both on the street or behind the lodge itself.||||||||I was in a twin room, but did feel that maybe the bed could do with updating (first world problem!)||A larger waste bin would be nice. ||The above two issues though are not deal-breakers; and this place will be my first choice when I next swing through Castlemaine.

Well appointed rooms. No-one on site for help. Was asked if I needed anything and replied that I needed more tea and biscuits but none arrived. Outside of building is showing signs of age with paint peeling. Embarrassed that walking up stairs caused much creaking that could disturb others. Bed comfortable. Upstairs room had good views. I would go again.
