As a local, I've only been to GeeCees a couple of times and my husband felt like having a steak. Being a Thursday, it turned out it was steak night at The Golden City, perfect! My husband ordered the porterhouse and I ordered the chicken and cashew wok dish. The serving size was very large for the price we paid too. Both dishes were excellent. 👌🏻
Husband had a great recommendation for a drink from a staff member and was very impressed. The place has a great pub atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. I got a cheeky coffee on the way out and it was wonderful too. Great place for a meal and we'll definitely be back. 👏🏻👏🏻

Garden City was just okay, nothing too special. The breakfast menu was pretty limited, and while the food was decent, it didn’t stand out. It wouldn’t be my first choice for breakfast, but I’d consider going back for lunch or dinner instead. ✨

Expecting pub food this hotel took it to the next level. My partner ordered corned beef with Dijon sauce. Perfect and served with broccolini , also perfect and carrot. Had to be the best Caesar Salad ever. Warm and friendly waitstaff. Pity we aren’t locals.

I ordered the southern fried chicken burger at 7:11pm, everyone at my table had received their meals but 2 people had to chase up their chicken Parma’s, after 40 minutes I went up to the bar to check on the status of my food, the staff seamed lost and had no clue what they were doing, I showed them the purchase receipt on my bank app, they said it wouldn’t take to much longer I waited another 22 minutes for my burger to arrive, I asked for a refund for the wait as I was holding back everyone at my table because I hadn’t eaten yet, the server returned 10 minutes later saying there was no refunds, the chicken was dry and burnt around the edges, definitely a 1 star, i remember it being so much better a couple of years ago, pathetic service and it wasn’t even busy for a Friday night.

Had been here before and it was ok but today’s dry service left a lot to be desired. Food was adequate. Chips could’ve been exceptional had they been hot.
Service staff however left a bad taste in our mouths.

On previous occasions we have had lovely meals.
This time (feb 25) the food was lacking.

the pasta i had was well over cooked to the point it could not be twirled around on the fork as it kept falling apart.

the food also took much longer to come to the table than expected or what we experienced in the past.

We brave this place every now and then because we like the food. Do not recommend for the service. We felt like a nuisance by the time we paid and left. Nobody to greet/seat us, had to ask for menus, had to ask for service, had to ask for cutlery. One girl behind the coffee machine seemed to be doing all the hard work while the staff that were meant to be serving tables would rather chat. Our visits will get fewer and further between.
