Great gigs. If you want a table, best to book a gig & meal then you can select food from a limited menu. Sometimes you can get a table if you arrive early enough. Otherwise there is standing only general admission tickets. Parking can be a challenge. Menu could do with an update, quality of food has been variable.

Drink specials on a Friday band night Unheard of where i come from. I had a pirate sounding one. Apologies for my lack of memory. Had nothing to do with the drinks I assure you. Not only did it have the needed nips to be tasted and tasty. At 13 bucks a pop I could afford to enjoy having 5!
The female bathrok is spacious and clean. The staff friendly and fast.
The only Issue for me was the lack of space on the balcony. Not to worry it was better for my health to stay inside drinking pirate specials anyway 💀

Second time we visit this place. The food is not very good considering the cost compared to the portion you get. In the end, we managed to get through the meal, but I’m writing this review because both times we went, the service was terrible. The same girl served us both times — she was not friendly at all, practically threw the plates on the table, and answered our questions very rudely. Honestly, the service was awful.

On a positive note, the performances and the show we watched were absolutely beautiful.

I do love the Brunswick Ballroom. It stages some outstanding performances and the latest was Henry Wagons.

Service at the bar is efficient and friendly.

Food is okay (we only ever get food if we buy reserved seating that requires a meal purchase, and that was not available for the latest gig).

The location is good - on street parking and tram nearby. Cake and coffee shop next door.

The venue - legendary as it is - does have its limitations. Accessibility for people wanting to use the Female bathroom is quite limited - you could not visit it without reasonable risk of mishap if you had a mobility impairment.

There’s a chairlift to get up to the ballroom itself, but it’s a chair for petite bottoms.

The ballroom gets pretty sticky and hot on a Summer day - take a handheld fan.

And if you need to be seated for a General Admission event, get there early and line up; it is the only way.

These are the things you learn on Visit #1. But the shows are so good, you will want to go back for more.

I'd give zero stars specifically to the food that is the side of dips with veg and bread - it was AWFUL. $20 for a small plate of stale food 😳. Cauliflower bites were good though. Attended for live music which was also good

The last three gigs I have seen have been at the Brunswick Ballroom, so I feel the acts they host there are some of the best in Melbourne. We saw the Necks there and like usual we got a great seat. It was an amazing show and venue to see it in. The ballroom has a great unique feel, not too formal and has a 1920's theatre style interior. The bands also feel quite intimate and close to the audience. Whenever we've been there the service has been really good, friendly and helpful. I just noticed Ed Kuepper is coming to the ballroom soon - can't wait!
Nice work BB!

Saw 90s experimental indie art rock veterans Deerhoof here last night and was just so impressed with the venue. Big, open space, with a wonderfully ambiguous decor that would suit jazz ensembles all the way through to punk rock - and wouldn't look amiss.
Lovely, no nonsense staff, ample, clean amenities, a verandah for smokers and some tables and chairs on a slightly higher precipice than the large dancefloor and punter area.
A well stocked bar, beautifully and simultaneously ventilated and heated space that feels intimate as it does large.
Will definitely consider going to gigs there again for the venue alone.

Another fantastic night at the Brunswick Ballroom, this time watching Bonny Light Horseman supported by Maple Glider. Treated to great food and service throughout the night, with a great selection of tap beers and a simple but tasty food menu. This place has great character and feel, excellent sound and is a great venue to see bands up close and personal. Highly recommended.
