This afternoon, I decided to drive down to Briagolong Quarry Reserve and explore the Quarries Camping Ground via Quarry Road. It was a very warm day with moderately gusty winds and a top of 24 degrees. I've driven past here a couple of times on my way to Blue Pools and was really excited to check it out.

The Quarries Camping Ground was certainly much bigger and better than I expected. Lots of space, several picnic tables and fire pits, droploos, a dining hall and playground area. Plus Freestone Creek is within walking distance and it's a gorgeous section that opens up to a swimming hole similar to that of Blue Pools.

Once I crossed over the creek, Quarry Road becomes rocky and moderately steep. To the right there's a gorge where George Creek runs and flows into Freestone Creek. Past here there's several large farmland properties with incredibly scenic rolling hills.

I was in two minds about doing the Overgrown Track but decided to do it. A very aptly named Track with the usual obstacles of fallen trees and overgrown grass/vegetation. It basically goes around in a loop and joins back to Quarry Road, edging along more private property.

Overall, I really enjoyed visiting this area. While you do have to pay to camp at The Quarries, it looks like a fantastic spot to camp overnight or on a weekend.

Beautiful spot with plenty of campsites, I think all of them have in-ground fire pits. Drop loos at both ends of the campground and a new playground in the middle. 2 tracks down to river with crystal clear water. Lots of kookas and rosellas . Dog friendly...Will be back!

Great place to camp. $10 per night or $50 for a week. Fire pits on each site. Great shallow river just down from the camp. Great for the kids.

Lovely camp spot. Clean drop toilet (as clean as a drop toilet can be). Play ground for the kids. Right by a lake for swimming and short drive to blue pool. Not too many camp spots so recommend getting there early!
Recommend Mt. Moornapa wines also a short drive away for a unique wine tasting experience.

Always love camping here. Good facilities, toilets and rubbish bins are available. Take your own water and toilet paper, the water coming out of the taps is not drinkable and occasionally the toilet paper gets stolen. Swimming is good when the water is flowing. Peaceful

Incredible campground with river access, spacious sites, and clean facilities. $10 to show the love at the Briagolong General Store (worth popping by the pub for a schooner and a yarn as well)
